We're currently booked in a Family Suite at Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista. Unfortunately, I have a nagging doubt in the back of my mind that this place may not be for us. Should we switch to the Country Inn @ Calypso Cay, if any of the Family Suites are pet friendly? Travelling with a pet limits our options, but I'm up for other "pet friendly" suggestions anyone may have. Cleanliness is our may concern. Thanks in advance for the advice.

ETA: We want to be an easy cab ride from DTD.

We stayed at Comfort Inn LBV last year. I dont know anything about the other place you mentioned. But we were completely satified with the Comfort Inn. We just had a standard room. It was extremely clean and affordable. I know some other people have remarked on this hotel not being great. And to be honest I was worried about it until we got there. Everyone was friendly and its in a convenient spot. It is extremely east to get to DTD from here. It took us maybe 3 minutes in our car. The entrance to DTD is right across the street from the intersection of Palm Pkwy. Plus WDW, US, SeaWorld are all close. And restaurants are withing walking distance. If anything, I would recommend a parking lot side room. A lot of people complain about the noise of I4. We found that with the AC the noise was completely blocked out. Pretty sure its pet friendly with deposit.
I hope I helped a little bit. Enjoy your trip where ever you go.

I have ressies for the Comfort Inn, LBV for our arrival night in December. To get to Hotel Plaza Blvd/DTD, do you take a left when leaving the hotel on Palm Pkwy, left on 535, and right on Hotel Plaza Blvd?

Sounds about right. You really cant miss the entrance for DTD. There is a giant Mickey Mouse on either side of the entrance.
hope you have a great trip :thumbsup2

I'm glad to hear you liked it. :thumbsup2 I guess the negative reviews are kind of scaring me off. Plus, the great rate isn't help. I keep thinking, "how good can it be for that rate?". (I know I'm insane sometimes. :rolleyes1) The Country Inn isn't that much more espensive, so that could be a positive. ;) Neither have a conventional family suite. I hope our teens can fit in the bunk beds. They look pretty small.

We also travel with a pet and stayed at the Comfort Inn for 5-nights in June. We did not have any problems with the hotel. All of the staff members were friendly and professional. The room, bed and bath linens were very clean and fresh. We did request and receive a room that was facing the parking lot to avoid the interstate noise. Sometimes pet friendly hotels do not have enough space to walk your dog, but the Comfort Inn has plenty of room on their grounds. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

It's great to read another good review. :goodvibes I'm not worried about the noise. I'm the crazy person who leaves the window open all night in the middle of cities, so I don't miss anything, when the city wakes back up. Naturally, that's when we're on a high floor. I'm not that crazy. ;) What type of room did you have? I'm hoping the bunk beds will be big enough for my 5'10" son. One more question, what type of documentation did they require for your pet? I contacted the hotel to ask them, but they didn't send much more than a form letter reply.

I stayed at both recently and wrote a review so I will cut and paste.

Hope it helps.

First of all, I want to say that I had planned on staying at only 1 place, but since my plans kept changing I ended up staying at 3 different places in the Kissimee/Lake Buena Vista Area. I thought I’d compare them for you all since many times you only stay at one place so you don’t compare similar priced properties. Of course as always this is my 2 cents…

My first stop was Country Inn and Suites Orlando Maingate. http://www.countryinns.com/orlandofl...s_cid=L8640281

It is rated as a 2.5 star by priceline in Disneyworld Vicinity, and is the one located on Calypso Cay. I bid on Priceline for 35 a night and with taxes/fee it worked out to be $86.82 for 2 rooms for the 1 night so 43ish for 1 night for 1 room. This worked out to be my favorite place of the trip. It was by far the cleanest of the rooms I stayed in this trip although like many places wasn’t perfect. It was obvious the room was older and they had renovated it to make it look newer. Bright colors. It was next to the timeshare location of Calypso Cay and while the lady at the front asked me if I was interested in a talk I said no thanks and that was the end of that! No other mention of it. There were several pools and my 5 year old daughter and I went to 2 of them. There were beach entry pools with easy slides and a good sized Jacuzzi. I saw many people having a drink and enjoying the pleasant atmosphere. Free parking, no resort fee. In the morning there was a breakfast buffet. Everyone turns in a ticket and you eat as much as you like. Good fresh fruit like apples and bananas, cereals, pancakes to heat up and at least 1 special item, breakfast burrito was it for us. They also had hard boiled eggs, and the typical breads, juices. No pressure to tip anything extra as everyone was there for buffet only. They were a pet friendly hotel so if you are allergic keep that in mind. I had no problems though. They had a small fridge and microwave in the room. Didn’t use the shuttle service, but had a brief look and since they share a service with other hotels I would have wanted to drive myself, can’t stand waiting for that long : ) Rooms were normal, but nothing out of the way special.

Next stop was the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista. http://www.comfortinnorlando.com/ I’ve stayed there before. I booked with the Spirit deal where you pay 9.95 for the 1st night and 49.99 for the second so for the 2 night it worked out to be the cheapest place if you only want 2 nights 66.32 for both nights including tax http://www.comfortinnorlando.com/spirit Free parking, no resort fee. No Jacuzzi, a very old and tired looking pool and if your room was on the I-4 side it was LOUD. I requested a building that was pet free and on the not I-4 side. Room was fine, much older condition than Country Inn, but decent. I liked that the room had a fridge and microwave though. Not quite as clean as the other, but still acceptable. When you check in they don’t want to give you any info about the area, they send you over to the tour desk who wants to sell you tickets and or other services. I just wanted the shuttle times and a map. The shuttles here were MUCH better. They don’t share the bus with other hotels, but it does sometimes make a stop at more than one park and seemed very busy while we were there. I have ridden the shuttle here in past and felt that you could get by without a car here if you are strapped for cash. I drove up Turkey Lake Road and went to Whole Foods for a few meals. They have such gourmet salads and hot foods that I took some to go and put them in my fridge at the hotel. It recently opened and I would say it a 12-15 minute drive from there. The breakfast buffet here annoys me. If you go during peak times you have to wait for a table since they want to seat you. The free breakfast includes icky fruit, juice, bread and a few icky donuts. They really push upselling their buffet breakfast which is in the same room that has the waffles, eggs, bacon, etc. I didn’t think it was worth it at all. You felt obligated to tip even with the buffet here since they sat you at a table, etc.

My last hotel stay was at Ramada Celebration http://www.ramadaorlandocelebration.com/amenities.php I booked this one on Priceline 2.5 star for $40 a night plus fees, taxes, not sure of the total, but around 50 a night I guess. You can find deals for almost that on their website. I was placed close to 192 which was loud!!! I heard many ambulances, Harleys, etc throughout the night. Free parking but no breakfast. The pools were not special in any way just basic and were several, it’s a large property. Room was in between Country Inn and Comfort LBV. It was mostly clean, and I liked the comforters but the room looked tired.

So, my summary if you aren’t renting a car I’d go with Comfort LBV without a doubt. If you are getting a car I’d go with the Country Inn and Suites. I’d avoid the Ramada unless it is an adult only trip.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

I'll try to answer any questions I can.

Great reviews! Thanks :cool1: Naturally, I have a question. ;) How far is it from the Country Inn to Downtown Disney? We want to take a taxi both ways on the night we go to Pleasure Island, & are hoping for a reasonable rate. Thanks again :)

It's not nearly as close as Comfort Inn LBV and didn't really notice. I imagine it would be a bit pricey. If you are not getting a rental car I would not recommend Country Inn as much as Comfort Inn LBV, but if you have a car I think Country Inn wins hands down if they are the same price range. Just my opinion.

We also found the microwave and fridge handy. There is a Super WalMart on Turkey Lake Rd also. We went there and bought some food and saved a bunch of money. We did get a package deal for $59/night and 2 free buffet breakfasts. We were also worried that it was too good to be true. But it is really decent. We are trying the Disney resorts next time, just to try it. But if we werent I would definetly be back at comfort inn LBV.

You can pretty much spit on DTD from the Comfort Inn LBV. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head that is convenient decent and cheap... this would be the way to go in my opinion.;)

Tarheelmjfan,

Sorry, it took me so long to follow-up on your question, but I didn’t check my e-mail this weekend. We had a standard room with 2 full size beds so I’m unable to comment on the size of the bunk beds.

As far as documentation for Bone A. Part, hotel staff members will ask for a current vaccination record from your vet. Some hotels that we have stayed at require that the record be dated no older than a week prior to your travel dates. So I normally just stop by the vet’s office the day before the trip and have them print a copy of his current vaccinations; which include rabies, DHPP and bordetella.

Since you are looking for a hotel close to DTD, the Holiday Inn Express on Palm Parkway also accepts pets. However, they do not have family suites, their largest room I believe, consists of a king bed with a sleeper sofa (4 people); but they do have microwaves and fridges in the room.

We have also stayed several times at the Holiday Inn Sunspree on 535. This inn does have family suites; again, we stayed in a standard room so I’m uncertain of the size of the bunks. The hotel is located about a half of a mile from the entrance of DTD.

Believe me, I know what you are going through, we have had such great rates for the Comfort Inn every time we have stayed there, all I could think was there is no way this place can be clean at these prices – you get what you pay for. However, we have been pleasantly surprised each time.

My DS (9) and I stayed at the Comfort Inn last year for one night and my whole family will be staying here for the first night this year. As the PPs have said, the hotel is a little older. We had a family suite and found it to be clean and comfortable. I will say, the bunks are a little small. There are bunks on one side and a single on the other. They were big enough for my son, but he was only 8 at the time. If your son sleeps all spread eagle, it might be kinda tight. If he sleeps sorta curled up, he may be fine. I was able to strech out on one to watch tv with my son, and I am 5'5" and I didn't notice it feeling too small.

Have you called the resort and asked them how big the bunks are? Maybe they could tell you.

The resort itself was good for the price paid. We were on the ground floor, pool side and we didn't hear any interstate noise.

You guys are making me feel better about the Comfort Inn. :) My DH thinks we should leave things alone, & stay close to DTD. I told him I'd try to do that. ;)

We stayed at the Comfort Inn in 2007, booked for 3 nights, left after 1. We did finally get a room on the partkinglot side, but ground floor, a lot of foot traffic at night, not very clear, breakfast was a nightmare.

Moved to Calypso Cay, but at the Amerisuites. Have been in the Country Inn and would stay there in a minute. Nicer grounds, 4 pools, pool bar, hot tub, free mini-golf, a lot quieter, better breakfast. Have stayed there for the past 4 years. Hope to stay again next April, still looking for deals. 5 minute walk to Super Wallmart and other shops, and I believe there is a shuttle to the parks, not sure which ones as we always have a car. Comfort Inn may have improved since we were there. We aren't hotel snobs, but we do look for good value and cleanliness above all.

How was the mini-golf course? That's on our list of things to do. Would teenagers consider it an acceptable substitute for one of the paid courses?

We're not going to any of the parks. We'll only be there 2 nights, & plan to go to WonderWorks, Disney Quest, Downtown Disney (including the Comedy Warehouse & Adventurers Club), & play mini-golf. Proximity to DTD is our only concern, as far as commuting goes. We'll be taking a cab that night, but will be driving our own vehicle the rest of the time.

Mini Golf Is Very Basis, No Added Attractions Like Water Or Caves. Good To Pass The Time.

For those of you who have stayed at Comfort inn at LBV, what grocery store would be closest to stop at before checking into Beach Club?

There's a Winn-Dixie on 535 about a 1/4 of a mile north of Palm Pkwy; it's a little bit more expensive than Publix on some items, but not Tourist store rip-off expensive.
