Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista - $49

Is this hotel ok for a four night stay for a party of four (2 adult mothers and one 7yo + one 14yo.

I don't want to be negative - but especially to the above poster, beware!! I posted about our experience (last year, almost this same time, also got it thru TravelZoo) on this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1685739&page=2

Many other negative posts there as well. I'd mostly be careful if you are going to be checking in later in the evening and/or will be there on a Grad Night. Specifics in the thread above but one main point for the family of four - they will not care if you do not have enough bed space. Ie. one double and one twin bed for your family of 4! Seriously! Read the thread for more info, or feel free to PM me!

I just had to weigh in with my experiences. I've stayed here 4-5 times - mostly 1-2 night stays and never had a bad experience. Yes, this resort is old and worn, but my rooms have ALWAYS been clean and in decent shape. The staff has been friendly and the location is great. Just ask for a room facing the parking lot to avoid I-4 noise.

HTH this helps someone!!! :goodvibes

Just old and worn wouldn't have bothered me a bit - it was just a one night stay before checking in to the Poly - not having enough bed space for our party (and likely fire code violation) and teenagers running absolutely wild through the place, it wasn't good. I'm sure many people do have decent experiences here - the room itself (and the hotel overall) seemed just fine to me. I just wanted to link to that other thread b/c I don't seem to be the only one to have had serious problems there. A non-busy night would probably be fine! The $49 rate was great, but not worth it for what we experienced. We'll be trying somewhere else for our arrival night in May '09!

Virginia - don't apologize!! I'm sure many will appreciate knowing this good rate and will have fine experiences. It would not be worth the risk to me, knowing what we experienced, but others have different opinions!!

We go down the day before & stay @ this hotel every year. Sometimes we stay a night @ the end of a trip if we spend to long in the parks our last day. We have never had a problem. It may depend on the time year you go as to how busy the hotel is.

We are a party of 3 & have always had 2 doubles. Always been clean & staff friendly.

I read your thread and you have a very valid point. Glad you persisted with the hotel and got a refund. Too bad you couldn't have traded rooms with the ladies in line who had the bunk beds. These rooms have a set of bunks and a small single bed in a kid area, so your young kids wouldn't have to sleep on the top. There is also a Double or Queen in the room. We had this type of room when our family of 5 stayed a few years ago. The room was pretty tight, so we won't be going this route again. I agree with others who have stated that the hotel is worn and a little old, but clean and accommodating. We were right outside the pool, which was great except for the noise at night.

I would suggest anyone thinking of staying here contact the hotel to ask how booked they are during your staff and if it is during Grad Night celebrations. If you book direct ask for the travelzoo discount and the cancellation policy. If it starts to get too crowded, change your reservation to another hotel. I'd rather spend a little more and have a great time, than let a great deal ruin our trip. This might help improve your odds with this gamble!

I am considering booking this and I will say that I have stayed here before. While others seem to think the staff was "good" I found them pretty bad, but considering that I ONLY stay if it's a GREAT deal what can I expect? IF they can afford for me to sleep this cheap I doubt they are spending much on staffing LOL!

I am not willing to do this for an entire vacation, but I need one night so maybe. (IT's have the price of my Fairfield Inn room for that night....)

DH and I stayed there for one night for $49 last March. Our flight got in late and we had to get up early to watch our niece play softball so we only needed a place to crash one about 6 hours. We checked into SSR the next day. Our biggest complaint was that the room smelled like someone chain smoked in it for a week straight! It was really bad and I am a reformed smoker! Because it was so late and we just waited in line 45 minutes to check-in (a bus load of people were checking in ahead of us at midnight!) I sprayed room freshner I alway pack from Yankee Candle and passed out from exhaustion. The room was a little worn but clean. The continental breakfast was adequate. For one night before or after a vacation, the value can't be beat. However, I would not choose to stay there for my whole vacation.

My sister and I just got back yesterday from a 3 night stay and I must say I was very leary:scared1: of staying there with all the negative reviews but I have to say we had a pleasant stay. Our room was not ready when we got there but when we returned later and checked in I was pleasantly surprised at how nice our room was despite all the horrible reviews. Maybe because the other posters are used to higher end hotels (the Poly and SSR) they had higher expectations. The rooms were very nice and clean, it was just my sister and I but we had 2 double beds. And when I booked through the SW Airlines website I did not request the room with a fridge and microwave for the higher price but we received them both anyway. Also, I would not blame the hotel for screaming teenagers running around, that's not the hotels fault, where are the parents or the chaperones? That being said, I do have 2 minor negatives. The drainage in our bathtub was very slow and we mentioned it to the front desk but nothing was ever done, I don't know if it was just our room or if the whole hotel is like that. The other was the free continental breakfast, it was so very crowded that to me it was a waste of time, we could have grabbed something from McDonald's faster (we only ate there once). Also as one reviwer said, the water left much to be desired and we are not bottled water people. My sister hated the coffee but when I purchased a bottle of water from the soda machine ($1.00) she said it was much better. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would stay again in a heartbeat. It was clean and the staff was very friendly.

During my last 2 trips the lodging has been "iffy" and very stressful (Oak Plantation Resort in December and a rental home in February). So I cancelled my Mother's Day ressie since most of the reviews are negative. My husband then found Galleria Palms for $59.00 per night through a Spirit Airlines special. I am so proud of him! :goodvibes

Yes, staying at the Poly gave me the HIGH expectation of wanting enough bed space for my party! We were a family of 4 given a room with bed space for 3 (handicap-accessible room with one double bed and one twin). That is not acceptable at any price range and I am almost positive it was a violation of fire code. I certainly don't consider wanting a room for 4 when you have a party of 4 a High expectation - maybe you should have read my review before commenting regarding my expectations?

I also do not blame the hotel for the teenagers behavior, though I do wish security would have stepped in to calm them somewhat - we could see the little security "box" (not sure what it is called) from our room. I just wanted to warn others that Grad night folks do stay here and I would definitely stay away from this location during that time as it was very rowdy.

Good grief, I didn't realize that I would have to put my flame suit on.
Obviously, I DID read your review otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned about the negative things you said. If I had 4 in my party, then no, the room you were given would not have been acceptable but that wasn't the case on our visit. As for the teenagers, what about Pop Warner and Jersey week, that happens everywhere and I don't know that security ever does anything about it. I'm just trying to offset some of the negative reviews with a good one. We had a good visit and would stay again.

I'm glad you had a good experience there. I'm betting that if we had gone at another time, we would have too - especially for $49!! I don't think there is any problem with your review - just your reference to other posters' reviews. I just thought your term of "higher expectations" because we stay at the Poly was unfair and obviously did not apply in our situation. If I had complained only because the furniture was older or worn or something like that then that might have been a fair statement, but that was not the case.

for those who are curious about this hotel I posted a review. we stayed from 4/20 - 4/25. check it out and feel free to ask me any questions! :)
