Comfort Inn Anaheim Maingate

anyone with reviews of this place im not even sure where it is?

Hi!

I can help:)

I stayed here in Nov of 2007 with my two kids (ages 3 and 6 at the time) and it was ok. The kids suites were nothing special- bunkbeds in a room with a little tv and a mini table in there- seperated by french doors into the main room. We had two queen beds in ours which worked as my best friend was travling with me (I was a single parent).

It was a bit away from the parks, but not too bad. It's located on harbor. The breakfast was limited but decent. The pool we didn't even attempt- it was just a little pool nothing special and it was chilly while we were there.

I haven't been back though...we stayed the next time in 2009 at Homewood Suites (loved it!) and since then also Grand Californian (I will never stay anywhere else!!!).

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I have pics at home on my hard drive, but not with me so I can post them later if you want!

We stayed in the spring of 2005 in a kid suite. It was located at the back of the property and was relatively quiet. Since it was our first trip to Disneyland, we were very excited on our first morning so walked to the park. That proves it is doable; it's not what you want to do at the end of the day with all of the other walking though. It is not what I would describe as a walking distance hotel; it's a good ways down Harbor. You would probably want to use ART. The pool is a parking lot pool and we had other things to do so didn't bother with it. The breakfast was fine; the kids like the make-your-own waffles. The hotel provides waffle batter which you can pour onto the waffle iron yourself and cook up.

We returned to this property for one night in October 2009 because we needed a cheap place to stay before going to my in-law's timeshare. We had a standard room with two queen beds. The room was very clean and decent sized. The walls were like paper though. I had a hard time sleeping as I could hear everything from the surrounding rooms and the street outside. We were too close to the front of the property, and the noise from Harbor bothered me a lot. We checked in in the late evening and the front desk staff was very courteous. The breakfast was as we remembered it. We drove and parked at Disneyland in the morning and spent a day there before going to my in-law's place in the evening.

I don't think I would return to the Comfort Inn. It wasn't objectionable, but we have found other places we prefer and we really don't like to be out of comfortable walking distance to Disneyland.

I forgot about the noise! You are right...while the noise off harbor wasn't that bad for us where we were, we had MANY issues in the 4 days we were threre with kids running outside our room loudly (after getting back from the parks at ten at night or so), and also early morning vacuuming, talking, etc that we could here just from the next room.

Comfort Inn Maingate is a 2 star motel. Nothing fancy, very basic but clean. Think upgraded Motel 6 or Red Roof.

We got a kids suite which was very large. There were two queen beds in one room and a seperate small room with bunk beds and TV. They also have a suite with 2 bathrooms. Kids loved having their own room and the two queen beds is handy for a large group.

Breakfast was free and consisted of waffles, fruit, toast, cereal, muffins, juice, milk etc. Dining area is rather small but there were also a few outside tables.

The walk to the parks would be way too far for me to even consider. However, Toy Story parking lot may be walkable as its not far and would provide free transport to/from the parks.

If you need lots of room and beds cheap and an free breakfast then this is a great place. If you need a 3 star or higher resort type hotel then this is not for you. Its a decent clean motel style place.

All you guys' post on some of these motels makes me feel like a bad parent! :D

Last year was our first year back in like 15 years and stayed at the super 8. Nothing fancy but for no more than sleeping and showering it worked well.

I love the view from our room last year overlooking the street. I loved looking down on the california palm trees and over the traffic and listening to the hustle and bustle of big city life.

Us country folks are odd like that I guess. ;)

I keep throwing the idea back and forth about checking out one of the resort hotels but just not sure it's worth the cost.

I'm like you. We don't spend enough time at the hotel to warrant the cost of a resort hotel.

If its just the two of us I use Price Line. I can consistantly get one of the south Harbor resorts such as Hilton, Red Lion, Crowne etc for about $50-$65 noting that parking is $10-$15 additional.

If we bring the kids then I use Hot Wire. For our upcoming trip we're staying at the Hotel Menage, Radisson near Knotts and a Holiday Inn Express near Sea World. 3 hotels because we have to move in order to do everything we want!

Hotel Menage is a remodeled Holiday Inn. It's nice but I'd rank it 2 1/2 star rather than the 3 shown on listings. Paid $65 but parking is I think $12.

Radisson near Knotts is a very decent 3 star hotel with large suite rooms. Seperate sleeper sofa in living room. Free hot breakfast and free parking makes it a bargain! Paid $65.

Holiday Inn Express near Sea World. Very nice rather upscale for a Holiday Inn. Includes free hot breakfast. Free parking. Paid $85.

When Motel 6 or Super 8 etc. is asking $65-$75 I'll always see what I can do better and usually can although Super 8 is just fine if needed.
