I just booked for President's week and IIRC the fares did not drop last year.......the flights sold out within a few hours!! I used RR credit, but booked for my friend at $347!!
I was trying to book President's week within a half hour of the fares being released. Are you saying that the lower fares are sold out, and not just being 'held'?
If you book the refundable anytime fare they are exactly that refundable at any time. Other fares may give you a refund or ticketless travel credits (southwest's credit) for a future flight(s).

Last year, I was watching from the time they released the fares and Fri, Sat, Sun of Presidents week (and th return weekend)never seemed to have any sale fares. They also are likely to sell out completely, so if you're really committed to going at that time, pick your preferred flights now. The joy of SWA is that is there is a sale later, you can always change it around without penalty. (but you may have to accept a credit, not a refund) Last year I booked - Mon - Wed (DD missed 3 days of school). This year Mon- Tues (DD will miss two days of school). However, I was able to get the $109 on a non-stop down and $79 on a connecting return so all told it's $216.80 We had a $56.60 per ticket credit from our upcoming trip, so overall I'm pretty happy. However, I do reminise about those days before DD was in school when we would go in early Feb and get the REALLY great deals.
Just checked for my dates and WOO HOO!!! $59.00 each way for the promotional fare. For the two of us thats $273.40. Pretty good considering the lowest we've ever gotten was $236 and that was before 9/11.
Well poop! My dates are non negotiable and the only fares available are 176 each way! That just bites! Dates are 2/19-2/26, BTW. All that waiting for nothing!

NO KIDDING!! We are set to the same dates and the rates were very disappointing. But it looks like they are selling because the two direct flights I was looking at are no longer available.
I guess we will be driving after all. Now I need to start to find layover hotels for the ride. Good luck everyone with your planning!
In case there's anyone from the Buff or Rochester area -- Yes! I just got $202 pp on NWA from BUF to MCO!!!!! Dates: 2/19 - 2/26. There's 2 connections, but for that price, it doesn't matter. Yesterday I booked it at 244 pp but when I looked today, it was down! NWA has a 24 hour refund policy, so I rebooked and cancelled my first. Only avail online!!!!

It's still alot more than the last batch SWA were offering up until Jan 14th (unfortunately). We were planning on flying out of BUF based on the Jan rates - $79 one way, it worked out to be around $520 for the 3 of us, but these rates they released (although mine do still seem available, not everyone is so lucky) work out to $735. The difference in price just doesn't justify driving from Toronto to Buffalo and staying over a night in a hotel. I guess we will just fly out of Toronto
