Come along on our Spring Break Photo Trip/Dining Report 2012! Update 9/12 Epcot

Thanks for responding to my topic about POR or values! I enjoyed looking at your photos, helps to see more than what's on the Disney site. Looks like you all had a great time!

Just wanted to let you know...

I am taking my cousin to Disney for her graduation present this July. She is beyond excited since they don't have a lot of money and she would NEVER be able to do this without me. She doesn't know a whole lot about Disney, since she never thought she would get to go...So I have been showing her your pictures to show her the resort (though we are FQ, but still one in the same), and this morning she saw the safari pictures. She doesn't care about MK, Epcot or anything else now, she just can't wait to go to AK for the safari :rotfl:

Keep 'em coming so she can get even more excited :) And thank you...its much easier for me to just show her this than to look up all those pictures separately online somewhere ;)

Joining in..we have 2 AoA rooms on the radar for our next trip (fam of 5) but interested in seeing how you made POR work for your family. I'm afraid I'd miss the extra bathroom with 1 room vs 2

Your pics are FABULOUS (that coming from a Canon girl!)

Loving your TR and beautiful photos! POR looks like a very relaxing place to stay.

Thanks so much!! It was a very beautiful resort. Even though it was spring break, it didn't feel crowded at the resort!

I just want to say I loved your sunrise shots. This is my favorite part of the morning at the resort no matter where we stay on property. We've never stayed at POR but will for the first time this August and you've really captured the beauty of the place. I can't wait to take my 6:30 AM stroll to see this beautiful resort. My favorite part is how the air feels and the smell that time of the morning. Thanks for sharing your shots, you have an incredible talent with your lens.

Thanks!!!

Thanks so much!! I love taking photos at DW and really try to get nice pictures! I glad people appreciate them!!!

I LOVE early mornings at the resorts. Just when every thing is waking up...:lovestruc, it's the most relaxing time of day!!!

We did have a great time! Glad seeing Disney through my lens helps!!:goodvibes

Thanks so much and there is so much more to come! She'll be busting at the seams before she goes if you keep watching!! I can always go with you and take photos of your trip if needed:rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

Welcome along and thanks!! Canon, Nikon, It's all the same as long as your actually using your camera!! It seems like once you start you stay with your brand because it's to expensive to switch.

We were fine with POR but if you need the extra bathroom, you may need the other resort. It's so hard to decide, that' why it's our goal to hit every resort.

Unbelievable photos - you are the photo QUEEN :worship:

That last round at the safari looks like you could've reached out and petted some of the animals :rotfl: We go in August when it's HOT HOT HOT and I've yet to see the lions that active - lucky you :goodvibes

Hi! I just found your TR and I am LOVING it!! Would you share your camera settings for those safari shots? I'm trying to learn, and I could definitely learn from you! :thumbsup2

bless your heart! I could never ever do this...I cannot imagine the clutter everywhere..where would your clothes and suitcases go? Your boys are not small....who slept on that little bed that pulled out? One bath room for all of you? wow! I can imagine not wanting to spend any time in the room, who would want to with all those people in one room? I cannot believe it....:rolleyes1

Thanks!! Photo queen:blush:!!:rotfl2:

Try to get to the safari first thing in the morning or right around sunset. That is when I usually have my best luck of active animals.

Thanks so much!! I try to set my D90 on the safari to ISO of 400 and use shutter priority. It seem to work well. I can you you exact speeds if you need them.

We really had no problem in our room at all...and clutter, not with this mom!!:rotfl2:

I'm a very organized person and traveler. We unpacked the boys in to the few drawers we had, my daughter kept her suitcase under the chair by her bed. My hubby and I stored the boys large suitcases under ours, like a table for our suitcase, zipper side out. Then my hubby and I could get to our clothes, the boys could put their dirty stuff in their suite case with out having to pull it out.

We bought a twin air mattress to sleep on and stood it up behind the door during the day.

All the small suitcases went under the sink, alot of storage under there. Three showered at night, and two in the morning, I showered while the boys swam and then they came back and showered.

We had no issues at all, we must just like each other. I bet housekeeping came in and wondered what they needed to so because it was already cleaned. I've seen some rooms and wondered what mess people live in if they cant keep a room clean for a week!

We've done the same traveling with extended family - one big card playing, TV watching, cocktail party when we have "down time" in the room after swimming, etc. We always get adjoining rooms so we can spend the time together but we've done a few trips with 5 in a room when DS was younger. We do just fine - we all like each other too ::yes:: Everyone gets a spot for their stuff and picks up after themselves :rolleyes1 um, yeah, being considerate of each other does go a long way in getting along

I have to agree with your last comment, I too have seen rooms passing by when housekeeping was in a room and wondered how in the world they can clean a room with that much clutter

After the safari my DD and I were on a mission. Both of us have a major sweet tooth and were ready for a late breakfast and we knew exactly what we were after! So off to the bakery we went.

Once we arrived we got a little worried as we waited in line, we peeked in the back and we didn’t see what we wanted.:worried:

We didn’t panic but very nicely asked for a White Elephant. We were told they were served about noon, and it was only about 10is. I think the look on our face must have been bad because the cast member said she would go in back and see what she could do and to our delight our sweet wish was granted!! YUM!!! Hubby had blueberry muffin...

Very moist and the elephant is made out of white chocolate so it’s like two sweets in one!!!

After our breakfast snack we were off to Dinoland for a ride on Primevil Whirl. I’m not a rider so I stayed back to take photos. This whole section of the park really doesn’t make sense to me. It just doesn’t fit in but the kids like the ride so off they went.

Afterwards the kids in me saw a photo op with no line so hubby and I got a photo:

Up next EE!!!

Loving your trip report!! What kind of camera do you use? And is it an SLR? Debating whether to get one or not; I have a point and shoot Cannon and it's ok but nothing compared to the quality of your photos. They are so crisp!

Thanks!! I have a Nikon D90, nice camera but I would be ready for an upgrade when I can afford it!!

Awww...that was so nice of the CM to get the Elephant for you! Yum!

It was great!! Yummy and filling! No idea how many weight watchers points it was but so goooooood!

I am loving your report. The pictures are absolutely beautiful. We have a trip booked for August but are thinking of changing resorts and this is really swaying me towards the Port Orleans Riverside. Waiting patiently for more.
And never worry about the ww points in Disney and to only have put on 4 lbs is great!! :cool1:

Joining in. Thanks for the amazing report and photos. I am researching POR for our March 2013 trip. We will be bringing my DSS (8) in addition to DS and DD so I think the Murphy Bed set up will be perfect for DSS. Your photos are really making me excited about this option for our trip!

I agree that the very back of the tram is the best for pictures at the safari in AK. You got some amazing pictures especially of the lions (we only got pictures of their rear ends :-)) The only downside of the back of the tram for us was that at the very end we hit a HUGE bump and I slammed back down on my seat so hard that I had a huge bruise on my lower back. DH thought I was being a whiner until he saw the bruise the next day (I milked that for all it was worth -- "oh honey, my back still hurts, can you get me a beer from the fridge" lol).
Looking forward to more pictures. Thank you!!

Wow, what a great report! I am so glad to see your pictures of POR, especially because we will be staying there for the first time in the fall! :cool1: I am most definitely subbed!:goodvibes

Lovin' this "photo" TR. What a great Idea. popcorn::

Thanks and :welcome:

Where are you booked now?? We really liked POR. It was nice but I'm not sure it was my favorite moderate.

It is a nice resort of the family of 5 that doesn't want to pay for a deluxe. It worked really well for us.

I have more motions sickness problems on the safari than I do with the bumps. It was a bumpy ride but with me spending so much time looking through the lens I get sick quick:( It is worth it to get nice photos!! I 'm glad people have enjoyed them!!! I was happy with my lion shots!

Beer in the fridge would be fun! We aren't in our rooms long enough to do much but sleep, shower and change. We need a vacation from our vacation!!!:rotfl2:

I hope you love it there!! It is a pretty resort. Like I said earlier, I will pay for a preferred room next time!!

:welcome:
