Comcast to buy ALL of Universal

XFinity Studios proudly presents The Wizarding World of Harry Potter On-Demand.

Thanks dbennett, I was posting when something came up and I had to go. Darn work!:thumbsup2

Interesting side not on the article is about the licenses for the park and as many suggested, if the park was sold those licenses would have had to be renegotiated.

Honestly, I think Blackstone did a marvelous job strategically here. Comcast really is put in a hard spot in turning down the offer and hoping to walk away with anything very good. Blackstone gets out on a high note and can concentrate on their own parks.

It will be interesting to see how Comcast manages Universal. Hopefully they do not shy away from further investments due to the buy out and equity they will have in it.

This is big news -- and I think it's good news, it suggests that Comcast sees a future in Universal. They could have easily let Blackstone shop the parks -- the contract would not have compelled a sale at any price, in case anyone is wondering.

The real question now is how soon Comcast will be willing to pump more money into the park after just shelling out an extra billion for it -- and whether that may slow development there.

Comcaast just raised my rates again. I now know where that extra money is going. Gotta pay for Universal!

Great news now let's celebrate by announcing Transformers for the Studios!!

By the way US Orlando's version of Transformers will not be like UNI in Cali and Shanghai which uses the Spiderman ride system! Transformers in Florida will be a brand new ride system that will be the next step in ride evolution above HP.

Transformers is such a tired franchise now. Sure the movies are good, but they're just overstuffed cans of cgi. Im actually dissapointed with this possibility...I liked the first transformer movie, fell asleep twice watching the second one, and i dont plan on seeing the third. I sure hope this doesn't see the light of day....that said good move on Comcast, Universal is really booming in a comeback, bringing the real competition to Disney's doorstep.

You are going to be disappointed because it's coming just a question of when. And US needs a major attraction to help with gues flow between the two parks. Since HP opens US has been a ghost town.

While you might not like Transformers it is far from tiered and in a couple of weeks the money it makes at the box office will back me up.

For those of us with Comcast employees in the family - this is great!!!

My kids love both Harry Potter and the Transformers. DS(8) has already commented that he would rather take a day or two away from our Disney trip and go to Universal. Just think if most if not all little boys age 7-10 ALL started to lean more towards universal. Disney better recognize. :rotfl:
