Has anyone in a book combined digital pages with traditional pages? I have a bunch of my Antietam ones that I've done digitally, but there are a couple of pages I want to do the traditional way because they involve using photos from the Library of Congress and don't want to get in a copyright fight trying to have the pages printed. So I thought for those it would be easier to do those pages using the traditional method then combining them with the digital pages. Would this look too weird? Also where is a good place to get just the pages printed, not put into a book?

On of the CJ I am in has a page that is digitally done in the mist of our traditionally done ones. I don't think it stands out in a bad way. What I mean is the page is done well digitally but it doesn't seem to detract from the book to go between digital and traditional scrapbooking. Of course this is not in a spread with traditional scrapbooking and is an album that is a variety of people styles together.

What you can do with "real" objects in digital scrapping:

a) scan in item and use it that way on your layout
b) leave a space for item, print your layout and adhere real item to it afterwards, you can scan in item to help with sizing and location first and then hide/delete item prior to printing.
c) keep memorabilia separate in a pocket or separate section of your book
d) do a paper LO for those items

Printing options:

a) Print them yourself by either purchasing a 12x12 printer or reducing your LO to 8x8 and printing them at that size (undo to keep LO at 12x12 after print)
b) Send them to a local printer or online printer that will print pages, there are several sites online that do this
c) Get them printed in a photobook, which will be a coffee table type hard bound book, many sites do this online too.

With your historical pages, I think it would look great in a hard bound book, but if you wanted to print reg 12x12 pages, you can slip them into a top loading book and then do paper pages as well for your momentos.

Sites that print pages:

a) Costco if you have on nearby, people rave over their low price and good quality, but you have to pick them up at the shop. If you use them, get it printed on 12x18 and print 1 12x12 and 2 6x6s, everyone reports that is the best quality, if you do 12x12 page they skew it and isn't as good as the 12x18.
b) Kinkos, Office Depot, Staples, and other shops like that have printing services. Beware of hidden charges, however. I made calendars for Christmas gifts last year and got them printed at Staples, and while 39 cents per page sounded great, they had several hidden charges that I was not expecting, including a fee to take my images off my CD, and it was not a cheap fee. The calendars turned out beautiful, however.

c) There are tons of online sites, most I cannot remember right now, I'm sure others will add more. www.sbtoshare.com gets great raves on service and quality and low prices.

Photobooks:
www.heritagemakers.com
www.shutterfly.com

There are more of those too that escape my brain now too. I blame the pregnancy. ;) If you browse some of the major digital scrapbooking sites, they all have threads about printing, I know www.digitalscrapbookplace.com and www.scrapgirls.com both have sections about printing options, which will give you more sites and ideas.

I totally plan on combining "mediums" when/if I start digital scrapping. I don't think it would be odd at all. Just my opinion...........P

I actually have both traditional pages and digital pages in one scrapbook. I don't think it looks odd at all. In fact, you really have to look to notice that pages are digital and not traditional once they're in a protective sheet cover.

I use sbtoshare.com for my 12x12 print outs.

I'm so torn. I really think that if I printed it with Shutterfly it would be beautiful, but there is one or two pictures I got from the Library of Congress that I would love to incorporate. I was going through their site and it said for most of the Civil War photos there are no restrictions on using or publishing the photos. Would that mean that I could use the photos? So confused and torn.

Though if I print them off at somewhere like sbtoshare, I could print all the text pages myself and include the pages with the LOC photos as traditional scrapbook pages. But then I have to find a binder, etc.

I really, really like the Shutterfly books, but I really want to use the Dunker Church picture. Its iconic Antietam. UGH!!! So confused and torn.

I think you're fine and wouldn't worry about the copywrite. Is it a photo you purchased and then scanned in or did you find it online? If it is an internet picture, it's probably only 72 dpi and you won't want to print it anyway, it will look horribly pixellated at that low quality.

I do a lot of Hybrid scrapping - using digital elements on my regular scrapbook pages which is great fun.
