Combining contracts?

We are considering adding on again maybe later this year at BWV (where our original contract is). Our use year is August. I want to make sure I understand combining contracts correctly.

If we purchase (we are looking resale) a contract with the same use year & same resort, can points from that contract plus our original be combined at 11 months?

What if the use years are different but still at same resort. Can they be combined at 11 months or only at 7 months?

Thanks for any help in advance. (I have been searching the forums for an answer but just can't seem to find it)

Same use year same resort = 11 months
Different use year, same resort = completely separate membership number. Can not be combined for any one night of a stay without doing a transfer between the contracts.

yes.

the pts will belong to different membership numbers and cannot be combined at all*. you can make a reservation for 4 nights with 1 contract. a few days later when the 11 month window opens for the next reservation, you can add a few more nights with the second contract.

*if you transfer pts from one contract to the other, you can combine or "pool" pts together to book a single night with pts from both contracts. most likely that will use up your once-per-year transfer for both contracts.

naturally, if you own pts from separate resorts, points from resort A can never be used to book resort B at 11 months out under any circumstances.

Thank you both so much for the quick replies. It looks like it would be much easier to keep both use years the same.

Have a great day!

It's more than just keeping the UYs the same. The new contract has to be titled exactly the same as your original or Disney will issue you a new additional membership. Once issued, very few have been successful in getting Disney to change their mind.

You need to make sure that your Broker and the Title Company knows that you have an existing membership and that this is a add on.

Thanks Bill! I will write that down in my notes so I can refer to it later.
