I promised my DS that I'd ask if anyone knew of any harm in allowing him to download Combat Arms to play online.

He likes war strategy games and I don't have a problem with him playing this. I'm more concerned about opening a portal for viruses and spyware to be allowed into our PC.

We have a firewall and virus protection, but I don't trust any of these things 100%.

He plays Runescape and I know that is relatively safe. I made him give up Soldier Front because it was a known virus incubus.

Thanks for your comments.

I don't know about the game you mentioned
there are games on the army.com site. kind of in the middle of page there is a big scroll and one is download games

I know they use to have a good combat game- you could play with other people online.
don't know if he wants to look at it- just told you about it because i remember it- it may have stuff in it that is geared toward recruiting for the army, but that is about all that someone could call "offensive" if they were against military service.

is he looking to play online with people? Or jus tdownload a game and play offline?

if he is online, you need someone very smart to stop any malicious gamers/hackers. they know all the tricks.

if he is just looking for downloads, maybe try the STEAM service, very reliable. very honest and no viruses. they have free games as well as pay games.

watch out for files sharing servers. you can get really nasty stuff - labeled to look like the file you want.
