OK I know its early, but I need to make plans -
We will be flying into Orlando 6th October and staying 4 nights at Hard Rock HOtel. I have just found out this is Columbus Day weekend

Will the parks be crowded this weekend?

Now the difficult part, we would like to attend HHN on Sunday 9th October, will this be classed as a peak day (for price and crowd levels) or do I plan for HHN on Thursday, this will involve booking an earlier flight from NYC and cutting our time there short and we will have to get a seven day pass rather than 4.

Like any holiday weekend, the parks will be more crowded than usual but still manageable.

HHN only has two peak nights...Friday and Saturday. All other nights (Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday) are considered off peak and the ticket and Express pass prices reflect the lower rate. The crowd level won't be a lot lower than a weekend night especially after 8pm or so. The trick is to make sure you do Stay & Scream and avoid some of the crowds.

columbus day weekend will have crowds at the hotels. many nights will be sold out.
HHN brings people in from all over.

sunday used to be a low crowd night for hhn up until 3 years ago.

do the stay and scream so you have a head start on the houses.
if you don't, you will need to get in line soon after 5:00 at the entrance to the park.
you have to go through metal detectors for the hhn event if you enter at 6:30 when it opens.

i buy the express pass for that night.
last few years the lines were long for the houses on sunday.

i switched to this time period to go to UO 10 years ago.
parks are not bad during the weekdays, and hhn not as packed as mid to end of the month.
