Columbus day weekend crowds

We just checked on going to WDW for a long weekend 10/8-11 and got a message that the Dis hotels are booked! We have been many times but never over Columbus Day weekend. Is the park really that busy over this Columbus Day weekend? Help!

They have a big Cross Country meet on Friday. Susan G Komen 5K Race on Saturday and Foot Locker 10K race on Sunday.

I was there over columbus day weekend last year and it was busy but manageable. We used EE and fast passes so we didn't have to wait in too many lines. It turned out to be a very fun and stress-free trip. There is the marathon and a big convention the week before so I think the hotels will be super busy!
