This year Columbus Day falls on Monday October 10th. Does anybody have any idea what the crowds will be like??? We live in Florida and this is not a school holiday but by chance my son will be out of school on Friday the 14th for a planning day. I thought I have seen posts in the past saying this is not a good week to go.

I went last year for the weekend (Fri-Mon.) and it was very crowded. 60 min. waits on the major rides but fast pass helped.

We arrived Sat of Labor Day weekend for a week, in 2003. It was really crowded till Wednesday, then the crowds disappeared.

We were walking on rides Wed, Thurs and Friday. :cool1:

We went for Columbus Day in 2003 (for a week), and we thought it was a great time to visit!!! We didn't think it was crowded at all!!! At most, a 10 minute wait - we did use fast pass for some of the popular rides (like Buzz Lightyear - my DD loves that one!!! She does NOT like any of the "mountain" rides though).

We really enjoyed MNSSHP too! Allison had so much fun!!!!

The weather was a very nice the first three days, then it turned a little cool for us!!!

I'd love to go back again in October!!!!

We'll be there Oct. 7-15th, so I'm hoping that the crowds for the Columbus Day weekend holiday won't impact us too much overall. I am most concerned about crowds in MK that weekend.

We were at WDW for Columbus Day last year. The crowds were tolerable. The weather was comfortable (one day of monsoon rains). Last year, with Florida being hit so hard with hurricanes, that particular weekend was one of the first decent weather wise. As a result, I think people headed to the parks as an escape. We attended the Friday, October 8 MNSSHP and it was jam-packed!!! During the day, the crowds were not too bad, as mentioned previously, fast pass was the way to go. Monday, the actualy holiday, was very busy but we did avoid the Magic Kingdom and went to Animal Kingdom instead - a good choice - less crowded. I say, go, go, go! and have a fabulous time!!!

Just an FYI, This year the Jewish High Holidays are on either side of Columbus Day. Some school districts do close for those days as well, and I know that many people take that opportunity to go to WDW. Hope you have a great trip no matter what!

touringplans.com has a bets days calendar which ranks on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the busiest) projected crowd levels. you can click on the link and scroll down to the dates you will be there. We are honeymooning the 8th-16th :goodvibes . Everyday but the 16th is projected at a 4 which is only moderately busy. I think the 8th,9th & 10 will probably be the busiest, but most places do not close anymore for columbus day so it shouldn't really be a huge factor.

here's to hoping I"m right
