I am thinking about taking my niece and nephew to WDW for a long weekend next fall. Since they already have a day off on Colombus Day and Veterans Dat, I am focusing on one of those weekends. So that they will miss only a couple of days of school. In your experience, which of these weekends would be less crowded? I will book our room (AKV) at the 11 month mark so I am not concerned about getting a room. I am more concerned with the corwds at the park since we will only have 3 park days.

The kids will be 9 and 10 next fall and went to MSSHP last year. So, I don't care if either F&WF or MNSSHP is going on or not.

Thanks everyone!

We have been at WDW for both and I don't think you would normally notice much of a difference. But next year I think Columbus Day will be more crowded because Veterans Day is on a Tuesday so a lot of people who otherwise may take a three day weekend won't be able to.

Have fun planning.

DisDaydreamer and Happy Birthday Cat thank you so much for your opinions!

Does anyone one else have an opinion? So far it is tied at 1.

I'm guessing that Jersey Week, the week of the NJ Teachers' Convention is the week before Veteran's Day. Now, Jersey's schools proabably have off for Veteran's Day, but I imagine that most people who came for that 4 day weekend will be gone. So, I think that Veteran's Day will be less crowded. I was very tempted to book my trip to WDW at that time, because I have Veteran's day off, but then I realized no MNSSHP, so I moved my trip to late October.

I'd vote for Columbus Day.

Veteran's Day is too close to Jersey Week - because so many NJ residents choose to go to WDW at that time, the parks (and DVC resorts) are very busy. I think it is almost as busy then as it is during Thanksgiving week!

I think either day would be crowded, but with Veteran's Day being on Tuesday, some would blow off Monday and have a really long weekend. Unless you also like Fri-Tues. weekends...

I'd go on Columbus Day!

You need to think school systems....not many in my area recognize Columbus Day, but most recognize Veterans Day. I imagine it is the same around the country.
