Columbia Harbour House Kids Meal Question

I posted this question on the restaurants board, but thought someone over here might have the answer to my question as well.

Can anyone describe the Chilled Chicken with Cheese kids meal at Columbia Harbour House to me? Here is the situation...DD and I are both vegetarians and she also has a severe egg allergy so there is maybe one kids counter service meal per park that works for her (CS mac and cheese contains egg whites and no peanut butter yet for her either). I'm wondering if this kids meal might be something that we could order for her and just remove the chicken on my own or just get the cheese portion of it. Is it like chunks of chicken and chunks of cheese? Are they mixed together or in seperate piles? I normally am not cool with just picking the meat out of a meal, but I might make an expection in this case.

Just trying to figure out if I'm going to have to pack a lunch for our MK days on our upcoming trip!

Ok, it has been 6 months since we were there and I know we ordered this for our youngest at least once. I remember the chicken which DS2 refused to eat since he didn't like the seasoning on it. I remember it came with carrots and celery and ranch dressing but I don't remember any cheese. I asked my DS10 and he doesn't remember any either. I did check the menu on another site and here is what it listed.
"Chilled Chicken with Cheese - served with grapes and cheddar crackers and child's beverage (apple juice, lowfat milk, or soft drink) $3.99"

So if this is acurate, there wouldn't be much for her to eat. I know that the table service restaurants will prepare something special for people with food allergies. Will you be on the dining plan so that she would have to eat off the children's menu? I would call disney and ask if there are any other options for at counter service places. Alternatively, if you have a fridge in your room, I would stock it with things she can eat and pack a few in a small cooler to suppliment what you can find for her to eat in the parks.

Sorry I don't have anything more helpful to say. Good luck!

It's chunks of cold chicken and chunks of cold cheese mixed together. The chicken can be easily picked out. If you ask, I'm sure they would provide the meal with just the cheese...they've always been real good about things like that with my picky family. Hope that helps!

I forgot to add that after reading the menu description for that kid's meal we recalled the details of the one we ordered in Jan. It had no cheese in it at all. Only chicken, carrots, celery, Mickey shaped cheese crackers, and ranch dressing. Maybe it has changed since then though.

Thank you both for the info. I appreciate it.

This is our third trip to WDW dealing with DD's food allergy (on top of our vegetarianism). One of the reason I have gone Disney crazy and only seem to want to vacation at WDW is because of how sensitive they are to the whole food allergy issue. It makes for a much less stressful trip! I plan to have some alternative plans for her lunches on the days where there won't be much available from CS restaurants. We are very familiar with carting our own food for her...everywhere! :)

I honestly have no idea about that meal.

I had a thought though, if you don't mind going a little bit out of your way...

We stayed at the Contemporary in June and one of the choices in their "food court" was a cheese and fruit plate. It counted as a snack on the dining plan. There were a lot of cubes of various kinds of cheeses, a bunch of grapes, and 3-4 packages of crackers. The packages were labeled with the types of cheese, so you could choose one with cheese she'd eat. There were several days that this was what my 4 yr old wanted for lunch.

Not sure if they offer something similar where you're staying but if they don't, could you take the monorail from the TTC to the Contemporary and then back to Magic Kingdom?

I also think you should check the allearsnet site for dietary info.

Good luck!

That's a good CS restaurant for vegetarians, but the kids meals are rather lame.

The chilled chicken is exactly as described above. It has a package of those mickey head crackers. I don't see why they couldn't give you just cheese, unless it is mixed together beforehand.

DS didn't like that meal at all. I ate most of the chicken and cheese. We were on the dining plan with me, DH, DS 5 & DD 2. We got two adult meals (a sandwich and a fish/chicken meal) and split the 3. DD loved the grapes and mickey crackers (she's a terrible eater).

Without the chicken, it would be the perfect meal for DD. All of her favorite food groups...cheese, cheese crackers, and a fruit that goes perfectly with cheese! :)

I hope it works out for you! :)

We ordered that meal for ds this weekend at MK. The cheese and chicken are served on the mickey plate in the same compartment. The applesauce is in an ear and the mickey shaped crackers are in the other ear.
