Columbia Harbor House VIP?

Hi folks!

I wanted to share one of the coolest experiences that my family has had in the parks. We stopped in Columbia Harbor House for dinner and it started with my girls playing with the CM’s outside the restaurant and ringing their bell. When we went inside and got in line a CM approached us and asked if we would like to be VIPs that evening. We weren’t sure what that meant but it sounded good, so we agreed.

By this time we were at the register to order so the CM told us to go ahead and order but that she would be bringing our food out to us. We completed our order and paid. The CM then walked us upstairs to a special table that was roped off from the rest of the restaurant. The table was set up with a white tablecloth, cloth napkins and was decorated with Mickey confetti. The CM introduced herself as Ashley and told us that she was in charge of making us feel like VIPs for the night.

She soon brought out our drinks but instead of the usual paper cups and juice boxes from CHH she had a pitcher of coke for the adults and glass mugs of apple juice for the girls. Next, she brought the food we had ordered but in double portions, and a triple portion for my youngest. I had no idea that she could eat 12 chicken nuggets, but anyway, she did! The food was served on dishes like at Liberty Tree Tavern. Ashley made several trips getting all kinds of things and every kind of condiment for us. She also spent a lot of time talking with us, telling us who she was, where she was from, and all about her job.

Ashley was particularly great with my girls. She asked them their favorite colors and in a few minutes came back with cookies for them to decorate. She brought sprinkles and had made up icing in their favorite colors. She also brought my wife and I 3 desserts! Keep in mind that we had not ordered any of this!

We’re passholders and visit very frequently but this the coolest experience we’ve ever had in a counter service or table service restaurant. We’ve eaten at this restaurant many times and I’ve never seen or noticed this before.

Anyone else get VIP’d at CHH?

I have never heard of this before but I sure love hearing stories about Disney Magic.:lovestruc
:wizard:

They do this at a few CS places at Disneyland. It started during that year when people would get unexpected surprises and stuff. It's still going on now. I wish I could be a VIP. It must be nice to have someone get your ketchup and napkins for you. ;)

And this is why I love Disney, will always go back to Disney, and always suggest to friends they should go to Disney.

THIS is what makes Disney special.

What a fabulous treat for your family, your kids will always remember this. Thanks for sharing.

really cool...did not know they did this at Disney World CS! How fun for your family :woohoo:

:tinker: Thanks for sharing this Magical Disney Experience with us.

Wow! I've never heard of the VIP treatment at CHH! That's one of our favorite cs places. I'm glad you were picked and had a great time!

Something similar happened to us at CHH in January! We were heading in to get in line, and one of my boys was upset b/c he had scraped his knee outside. A very nice CM gave us a band-aid and then said he wanted to treat us to a Magical Moment. He took DH and the kids upstairs to the roped-off "VIP" area while I ordered our food. After that he waited on us hand and foot! Gave the kids Princess & Frog fortune cards and brought us free dessert. He took our picture as well, for the CM bulletin board at the restaurant. It makes me smile to think our picture might be hanging behind the scenes somewhere!

I've always loved CHH, and now I'll be sure never to miss it. :thumbsup2

I've never heard of it but it sounds wonderful. I'm sure that is something you and your children will remember for years to come.

What a wonderful treat for your family. :goodvibes

I've never seen/heard of this before, but these are the kinds of moments that make Disney magical. :wizard:

Super cool! That's awesome! I'm glad someone else has heard of this, I thought we were in the twilight zone. :scared1:

Sounds neat. Pics?

This this Blythe out front before dinner...

I wish that we'd been thinking about pics but we were all kind of caught off guard by the whole event! Here's one that Ashley snapped of us at the table. As you can see, we were stunned.... :rotfl:

Another funny thing - when I sent this pic to my folks, my mom thought that the apple juice that the kids had was a draft beer! Now, if my wife and I could have had a cold one inside of MK, that would really have been VIP! :cool1:
