Columbia Harbor House - huge disappointment

I don't get the infatuation with this place. The food tastes like Long John SIlver's. Not even as good as Captain D's.
I've never read of anyone being infatuated with this place. I see why you don't get it if you've read that people are infatuated with the place.

We eat there for the reasons everyone else has said; it's cool inside, it's not burgers and we can always find a place to sit. Really no quick service food in MK is great so I'll get the just okay lobster roll and some chowder rather than a just okay burger or sub-par fajita or taco somewhere else.

Where are these alleged burgers that everyone thinks is everywhere else??? We eat chicken waffle sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow, tacos, fajitas etc at Pecks Bill's, chicken and ribs at Cosmic Rays (which is the only place to even get a burger in the park, no?)

Don't forget Tomorrowland Terrace and Pecos Bill's.

I don't see everyone thinking that burgers are everywhere. Most are simply commenting that Columbia House is an alternative to burgers. So is Sleepy Hollow, Pecos Bill and Village Haus. But this discussion is about Columbia House. Seems appropriate to me.

What did you get? If it’s like Long John Silvers to you you probably got fried shrimp or something similar, and tbh you can’t expect much from that anywhere. Last time I was there I got the lobster roll and it was really good... not fantastic but something I’d go back for in MK.

We enjoy CHH partly because of tradition. When going to MK as a kid, we ALWAYS ate at CHH. My husband and I have carried this tradition on with our kids. Embarrassingly, we didn't realize there was an upstairs until around 15 years ago. :) Maybe it was just that crowded when I was a kid that my parents never noticed... :-)

You need to try the chicken pot pie. That’s the best thing on the menu and very tasty, goes well with a Mac n cheese side.

I don't think that it's really anything all that good, it's just that most MK QS is so bad! 😛 Actually, some of the other places have stepped up a bit, so now CHH is middle of the pack. It's still decent though.

I like CHH because as other's have said: it's cool and quiet in there. Plus, I basically always get the tuna salad sandwich. It seems "light" and refreshing.

I've really only ever eaten at Cosmic Rays before and that place is kind of stressful to be in and food wasn't good. Haven't yet tried Pecos Bill but usually in the heat, I'm not interested in fajitas, tacos etc.

But yeah, nothing in MK is overly noteworthy.

I'm from the north shore of Massachusetts. So yeah, it's not as good as I can get at home; at all. I literally have two world class clam shacks within a 2 mile drive, But the decor is pretty cool and the 2nd floor is a fun break from the insanity of the MK.
I like it as my "chicken fingers and fries" meal I like to have once while on a trip.

I really like it. My stomach starts to have issues with too much "heavy" food so the tuna sandwich is a wonderful option. That is the only thing I get there.

I have seen people rave, and maybe it's because it's more than just burgers, but the food was awful the last time we went. The chicken was hard...like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours and the lobster mac & cheese is an abomination. I'm sure there are people who love it, but pairing lobster with kiddie mac & cheese is disgusting.

Cosmic Rays is stressful for me as well. All the stations, then the condiments, and you have to regroup if you separate. Ugh!

Im from CT and we also get great fish and seafood here, but I am not critical if we eat at CHH.. You and I both know what awesome fresh seafood is and how fresh fried fish and chips can melt your heart, but liek you , I do nto go to CHH expecting it to mirror my favorite seafood house. I go for a decent meal in a nice setting where I can relax and cool off.

I enjoy CHH a lot, especially since they seem to have put more lobster into the lobster roll this year. Always make it a point to go there for lunch on our visits.

There's a difference between saying; if you are at MK looking for QS then CHH is a good bet vs. you have to go to MK and eat at CHH.

I get the salmon and then head upstairs to people watch, and there are no other QS I want to eat lunch or supper at MK... so, I'd always recommend it in a thread asking for recommendations. lol

I didn't see the lobster mac' and cheese when I was last there but if I wanted lobster and did not have to criss cross the park to get it then I would have taken it with the mac' and cheese.

Meanwhile I may prepare other esoteric combinations back at home, such as spaghetti and duck.
