Colorado DISers ... where are you ?

Hey Denver DIS-ers,

Anyone know which Disney Stores are still open? Did Park Meadows ever re-open? Which one would be the most convenient if I'll be heading back to Colorado Springs on I-25 (from around Exit 200 or 201)?

I tried to put C-O-S instead of Colo Spgs and it changed it to *** -- wonder why???

Thanks!

There is a Disney Store in Flatirons Mall in Broomfield. They closed the Westminster Mall store last month. Not sure about the Park Meadows store, sorry.

C O S is the Colorado Springs Airport code, that is strange. :confused3

...I have a question...does anyone have any suggestions for a good day care either private or corporate that doesn't run and arm and a leg? DH and I are expecting our first baby in December  (the reason I've been away so much) and I need to start looking at DC. We are up off 120th and Holly, but I work in Westminster off of 112th. I would consider anything near either location or in between. I appreciate any suggestions you all can give me! Thanks!
Congratulations! It's never too early to start looking for daycare - I found it tough to procure in this area. I used the KinderCare on 128th Ave and felt they provided very good care for my kids, though I didn't use them for infant care. I also have a friend in Woodbridge Station who does in-home daycare, but I don't know if she takes infants or even if she has an opening. I'll ask and PM you if she does. Another option (probably your best bet) is to contact the state licensing board and ask for facilities and references in the areas you are interested in. I don't know any daycare place that isn't going to charge you an arm and a leg for infant care, it's just crazy expensive. I hated Little Peoples' Landing off of 120th and I-25. I never felt comfortable leaving my school-age child there, let alone an infant. I called up and complained about their van driver (transporting kids from school to the facility) who ran a red light. I moved my daughter to Kindercare as soon as I could.

...We are planning a weekend family trip in August we chose Denver last year it was the springs. What are some good things to do? We were thinking The museum or Zoo one day, waterworld or Elitch gardens (are they no longer a 6flags?) on the next day. Do you know any hotels for large families(2adults 5kids)? ...Would love some local info and some great ideas.
I would choose Water World over Elitch's any day. The deals from the local grocery stores are better for WW than Elitch's, and even if you decide against the four-pack, you can take your own picnic lunch inside the park. At Elitch's you have to leave the park and eat on grungy picnic tables in the parking lot. Blech. I love the musuem of nature and science right next to the zoo, you could catch an IMAX movie as well. You could tour the capitol building, you might be able to tour the Denver mint (check about weekends, google it), you could tour the Molly Brown house http://mollybrown.org/. You could catch a play (www.denvercenter.org), could go to Dave & Busters for dinner and arcade games. You could head up the hill a bit and take a ride on the Georgetown Loop narrow gauge railroad and tour the mine (bring a jacket, it's 40 degrees in there year-round) http://www.royalgorgereservations.com/.

Have fun planning!

I only see one kids age but it's right smack dab in my kids ages...let's see if I can help.

We love the zoo. Elitch Garden's is back to be just Elitch's and not Six Flags. It's fun but expensive. If you tell me what weekend or week you'll be here I can tell you if there's a concert there that weekend. We could also see about getting you in cheaper. Water World is hugely expensive!! Elitch's is probably a better deal. Bono's BBQ is over the way of your hotel. Park Meadows just opened up a "new" wing. Boondocks was fun and actually better than Fat City. Over by Park Meadows is a fun bowling alley. So many museums so hard to choose.

Have fun planning!!

My kiddos are 14,9,8,6,&3 We will be there August 8,9,&10.

Thank you Babytrees I just found out about the Scottish festival  I think we might do that on Saturday. Water World on Friday. Thank you so much.

you are welcome....I keep wanting to do the Scottish Festival but just haven't done it yet.

So we ended up not being able to do Adults Only night at Pirate's Cove because Alex didn't have his youth gathering at church this week and I ended up having a business dinner that night...BUT...last night Alex stayed over with a friend so Tammy and I went out to Pappadeaux...Mediterranean calamari, catfish po' boy, catfish opelousas, banana pudding. If you aren't drooling, you should be.

We also met a guy before dinner who had listed an amp for sale on Craigslist and ended up buying it for Alex as a surprise. He's been practicing his guitar with a little 12W amp that is totally blown away by this new 30W one. The seller is an associate pastor at a church in Lone Tree but he's moving to Australia at the end of August, so he's selling off some of his belongings. It couldn't have worked out better for us.

I worked the Mile High Music festival yesterday (pay goes to the LHS Marching Band).....it was great fun but I got bit by something on my anlkes so I've got sausages for ankles. I begged off today because of the swelling but my husband is doing it. I don't know that I would have paid to be there but great music to get paid to listen to...until the last concert I was staffing (Lupe Fiasco)

Way to go Jrsy on date night and a new amp to boot!!:thumbsup2

I wanted to go to the musical festival but my step daughters were not very interested!!!! Your poor ankles, how are they today?

I used a baking powder paste on them last night and while still itchy and red I don't look like I've got anthills on my ankles now. :rotfl:

Jim enjoyed his time yesterday....I think this was definitely a teen and up festival...not a whole lot for the younger ones to do. I would have loved to have been yesterday to listen and I am hoping this becomes an annual event. As one person said Saturday it's Colorado's first attempt at Woodstock.
