Colorado Cruisers

Okay, so I am thinking I REALLY want to go on another cruise. 2006 is out, but we do have a WDW trip planned in August. I went online yesterday and was looking at the Western Dec 15 2007. I said that I didn't want to take the kids out of school again since it was such a pain with all of the makeup work, but that would be the week right before they get out for Christmas. Right now on the school calendar it says that break starts on the 24th, but this year they did that and then added the Thursday and Friday before that. So, if they do that again they would only miss three days and if not they would miss 5 days of not much homework. I REALLLY want to go again. It is depressing not having a cruise planned. That would get us home 3 days before Christmas, but if I have everything done before we leave that wouldn't be a problem.... well I might want to make sure we have dinner at someone else's house.......

Hi twinmom108! We will be in WDW the same time. We are doing the 9/28 Wonder then spending the week so we can hit the Halloween party!

Thanks for the welcome. What resort are you staying at? We'll be at VWL by the time you return from the Wonder. I saw on some other posts that you are going to try to surprise some boys too with a Disney trip. We ought to put our heads together:rotfl: :rotfl:

Just wanted to let everyone know that we just got tickets to Orlando for $109 round trip. Well, actually my mom got the tickets for all of us in August. It is Delta and has one stop. We prefer nonstops, but for the price we couldn't pass them up. :hyper:

:woohoo: Wow! that's an awesome price for airfare. Fall prices are still well over $300 and with 5 of us going that puts a serious cut in our budget. I'm hoping by May or June the airlines will have some reasonable rates with good schedules for departing either Denver or Colorado Springs to MCO. If anyone else finds good airfare rates for September and October please PM me, Thanks!

Great airfare! We are going in October, I sucked it up and purchased tickets for $350 from Colorado Springs to MCO last week. My ticket was free though due to frequent flyer miles so that helped a bit. We are only 10 minutes from the airport, so that is better than having to deal with driving and parking at DIA. We got great times though, that's another conselation to the high price.

Wow we will be at VWL at the same time! VWL is DH favorite resort. We stayed at BWV last trip and although he enjoyed it he missed the feel of the Wilderness Lodge.

I surprised the boys last April with a birthday trip to OKW for DS. This year I do want to surprise them with the cruise, so I have not told them about it yet. I liked your idea of driving in to tour. Mine are still young so would probably believe me.

I will let you know if I see I good fare. I am really hoping for something in the low $200's on Frontier. Nonstop and Direct TV really make the trip easy.

:cool1: That is so cool. Who are you bringing with you? We'll be (me of course), DH, DS 12, and DS's (twins) 13 turning 14 on our cruise. My husband and I stayed at WL for two days Sept 2001. I used to be a DVC member with points at VWL but never stayed there while we were members. We had to sell our DVC membership  because our boys were growing out of their tiny bedrooms and we needed the money to expand into the basement. We're renting points from another DVC member which does make me nervous. I just hope that she is as reliable and honest as I was when I rented out DVC points to nonmembers.

It will be me, DH, DS7 and DS 5. We have been DVC members for about 4 years. We bought VWL resale then added on at OKW to have the 11 month window for Grand Villas. I hope your rental goes well. Is it a member of the DIS? I rented points one time for a large family trip. We had 150 points transferred into my account. I had to pay first which made me nervous but the points were transferred about 30 minutes after the paypal payment went through. I am waiting to see the dates of the Halloween Party as I want to take the boys this year.

I wished our sons had been a little closer in age. Anyway I hope you'll have a little time during the week we're both at the villas to let me know how your first Disney Cruise went!

I did find the DVC member on the DIS rent/trade board, but like me she posts with some irregularity. We did have one phone conversation. If all goes well she will have a wonderful reference to use if she chooses to do so. :)

7 months and counting :smooth:

We've been to WDW three times before and always flew out of Denver because the price was always soooo much lower than COS. Last time Dec. 31, 2003, it was only $140.00 total per person. This year I was hoping to be able to use COS because we're only 20 minutes away as opposed to a 1 1/2 hour drive to DIA. It's great that you were able to use frequent flyer miles. Unfortunately for us we don't do much travel by air so that perk is not one that's available to us. Right now, I guess it's a wait and see what happens to the airfares. We're going regardless.

Hello everyone and welcome twinmom108. I am a twins mom but my girls are 25. One of them you might see around on the board, PoohFriend#1. In fact, she is on this thread. She is dating a guy with twins. My other twin has twin 9 month olds.

Cristi, thanks so much for the heads up on the airfare. I will have to go check it out. We much prefer a direct flight but it doesn't hurt to check on it for our cruise this Sept. Why don't you just book the 10 day Wonder cruise and go with us?? Ahhh, come on.

I would love too, but you know school and everything for the kids (and DH). Besides we already have a WDW trip planned for this year, so no cruise for us. I was looking at various times in 2007. The ones that would have the kids missing the least amount of school and I really like the December time. Spring break and Christmas break are just way too expensive right now and Mediteranian would be out of our price range too I think. You should re-book on board and come with us Dec '07!

Sorry Cristi but it looks like we will be booking Aug 07. Nice try though. I just checked Delta and no deal for us. It was around 320.00 pp. Shoot!

ahh, but there is nothing like seeing the ship all decked out for Christmas! :goodvibes

Have you guys seen SideStep? I found it on the Frontier website. It seems to be checking around at a lot of different sites for me. It usually has lower quotes than Travelocity, and it tells me where it found the prices. The thing I like best about it is that it checks nearby airports, so I also get fares for Colorado Springs and Tampa.

Twins, twins, and more twins!!!!!!!

BlackUnicorn - I love sidestep.com, but what I usually do is see what airline is the cheapest on that site and then go directly to the airline'a website and get it for a little bit cheaper.

:cool1: We just booked our flights!!!

I was hoping to fly either out of COS or out of Den(nonstop), but at this price and since we needed specific dates I went ahead and booked it.

One DS and I are leaving 3 days earlier than DH and twin DS's. The two of us are actually flying into Tampa instead of Orlando on our way out there because we're going to see Big Cat Rescue, formerly known as Wildlife on Easy Street before making our way to WDW. The other three will be coming in on Sunday Oct. 1st.

We are all flying back on the same flight MCO to DEN (seated together) Sunday night after our cruise. The airfare for all 5 of us came in under $850.00. More money to spend on the cruise! :woohoo:

What a great deal!!!!! They have it for our dates too, but I don't want to cut it too close. We would have to depart MCO at 12:09 after we get off the ship. I like to go to DTD after the cruise so I think I will hold off, thanks so much for the heads up!!!!!!!

Heidi, don't forget that we like to go to Premium Outlets as well as DTD. That is a pretty good outlet store for Disney!

Cristi, that is one time that I want to cruise very badly! I can't even begin to think about being on the ship over Christmas!

Sandy, you should come. You would be home in time for Christmas. I will have to have absolutely everything finished before we leave. This past year since we didn't get home from our cruise until 12/18 I tried to get almost everything done. I did a pretty good job too. All I had left when we got home was Christmas cards (I wanted to use a family photo from the ship) and a couple of presents left to wrap. It was great having everything done so early.
