Color US Cash!

Saw this news link and thought it was interesting. As you probably know, our Canadian money is already colorized (yes, aka Monopoly money ). Despite the jokes though it does make sense to have each bill a different shade and prevents a lot of errors so it seems like a good idea. What are your thoughts on this huge change-over?

I think it's pretty cool. When I used to travel to England a lot, it was easy to pick a note out of my wallet just by seeing the color rather than having to thumb through to find a certain denomination.

It's certainly taking them long enough. I remember talking about this in our Economics class in 1984.

I'm usually a fan of changes that make sense, but not in this case. I want my greenbacks green!

Partially because of sentimental reasons, but it also makes foreign money more special & interesting. I especially hope they don't change the shape of the bills.

In the works is a five-year effort, costing up to $53 million, to educate people about the changes. An important goal is to help distinguish between genuine greenbacks and bogus bills.

Not to mention the mix ups with foreign bills. Canadian coins often change hands & while a penny here or a nickle there don't hurt the consumer much, the paper currency would be a bigger problem.

did you notice they always start with the 20? like how they redid the bills?
are the one dollar bills ever gonna get redone? (or did they get redone and I just don't remember? )

isn't it kinda ironic they are gonna have to spend 53 million dollars to educate people about them..so it's like they are printing out the money and using it to educate..(I think I have lost it now!)
