Color Swap - Mailed back to you!

icesk8abc -- very nice pieces!

I have made some progress. I have all of my scrap sets done and everything cut for yellow, brown and bright -- my bright group will be pink, green and a printed star paper.

I'm making some really good progress on this - most stuff is cut & just needs to be embellished. Quick question, though, since I've never done this particular swap before - is it ok to have a theme/pattern in the color groups? For example, flowers & butterflies in the girl group, or country apples in the rustic group or are these too specific?
Thanks & have a great night!

Thanks for asking!

The way I see it, a general theme/pattern that can be used multiple ways is a great way to tie pieces together, so I think that flowers and butterflies as paper and embellishments is cute for the girl group, but if you're doing a title box as an element to go with it, leave that blank so people can come up with their own title to match their occasion.

Ex. - one person might have perfect pictures from spring, and another from a recital where their daughter was a butterfly... the paper and embellishments work for both, but a pre-done title/phrase might not.

As for country apples... hmm... I will leave final judgment on this one up to the people in your group.

I think it might be a little too specific, but I'm not sure what your plan is on incorporating the apples in. Maybe post a prototype, or describe what you're thinking about doing, and the people in your group can chime in?

You don't get more rustic than country apples though,.

Oh, and icesk8abc's package came yesterday! Thanks for the neat card and Mickey stickers - I haven't seen those before, they're so cute!

I'm good with apples.

Who knows, maybe it will inspire me to take my camera with me and go apple picking. :thumbsup2

Ok, cool - thanks for clearing that up :3dglasses.

The apple thing was just for the patterned paper - it looked really nice with the burgundy since the one I had in mind didn't look good. It's the only group I have to put the main pieces together still.

Don't know if I'll get to do much this weekend since we have several bbqs to attend. I just know I'm a much happier momma when I get to play with my "toys" a little :rotfl:

Hey, Mazda, a lovely big box arrived safe and sound today from "over the pond"

Our swap hostess is off working today, so her...um....hired help (!) accepted the package on her behalf...:rotfl2:

The first post is updated to show everyone who has sent their things in - we're over a 1/3rd of the way there!

Mazda, everything is beautiful! I'll update the slideshow with photos Monday or Tuesday.

Galsd it got there safely! I always worry about my "babies" going all that way on their own:rolleyes1:rotfl2: (And I still think it might be cheaper to just have al the swaps I want at once then hir a jet to bring me and them over and back:rotfl:)

The second (and last) check in is this Friday! It is also the last time to ask for angels.

Checking in myself: The other night, I went through everything I already owned, and pulled out the papers and supplies I'd been buying earlier in the year for this swap, so I now have everything pulled together and sitting in a pile, just waiting for me.

Checking in - I am pretty close to being done...a few groups left to finish. I expect to be done by the end of the week and mailing early next week at the latest. This was a fun and pretty easy swap!!! The groups seemed to fly once you got started. I will post pix soon!

I'm in the embellishing phase right now - all of the pieces are assembled, they just need to be prettied up :cutie:

And you had the most groups too! That makes me feel like I've been slacking...

I cannot wait to see what you made!

I have been working on these at the same time as the cruise swap since they are due about the same time. But, they really went pretty fast. For whatever reason, they seemed faster than other swaps?? Maybe smaller groups?? I don't know, but I was breezing right through. I am slacking so much on my pictures, but will try to get them up this week!!!

I have finishing touches on 2 groups, all the others finished, bagged and labeled.

Our pesky hostess is bugging me to check in.

Ok - here I am! :wave2:

Nothing new to report - I have to finish up the last cruise swap pieces, THEN will work on these. And yes, they are on my list!
