Color Page Kit Swap - Closed

I have 2 dies. One makes the large one that you have prefold the paper before cutting - 4-3/4x3-3/8. The other one cuts the whole thing and you fold it afterwards - 3x2. I made the smaller one for Cinderella page kit. I figured it is the same size as a tag, so it must be okay.

I think in the past, we decided that the large Sizzix die that you have to fold the paper to get the complete shape is good as a single element, but the littler one that cuts both sides of the paper and you fold, should have something come with it (2 shapes, a tag, etc); it is like a half element.

Plodding on..... I had to get more double-sided tape.

Q about ss - I forgot about making extras for this until I was nearly done, but I've just worked out I'll have 30 colour sets :earseek: Would it be OK to select some for my SS so she gets a better 3rd package, or is that cheating?

Hmm, that would still qualify as homemade, wouldn't it? Course, you could just give all the ones you made yourself, and that would definitely be okay.

I am bumming that I missed out on the ss swaps - when will those open up again?

In the Fall... I think September will be the fall sign ups but don't quote me on that :)

I have my pink group done and one of my blue sets (except for the tags in both cases, my nemesis)

Left to do:
Purple
Green
another Blue

How many sheets of cardstock do you use for each kit? I'm thinking 1 of each color so 10 sheets for a group of 2. Does that sound right? I'm on pain meds and my reasoning is off.

With 4 sheets of 12x12 (2 per color) I can get 6 photo mats, double matted. I'm sure there is a better paper saver way to cut them, but with my cutter, I don't have it. I can use the extra pieces towards boxes or tags. But I always need part of another 12x12 (each color) to finish up those pieces. That makes 6 sheets (3 per color) so far. Wether or not I can make the other element with the left over from tags/boxes depends upon what I make.

Does that help or confuse? :confused3

If my brain weren't fuzzy with pain and meds, it would probably make perfect sense. So do you think I'm OK buying one sheet of each color per kit? Does that make more sense?

BTW, DH is tired of me being in pain all the time. He says that the pain and meds have made me stupid. Nice, huh?

Same as AWM, I can get pieces for 3 photo mats per 12x12 sheet.

Unless, it is patterned paper and I need it to go a certain direction. I could still get 3, but then it would be 2 pieces going in one direction, and one piece going the other (horizontal or vertical).

For these groups of 5, I used either 3-4 sheets, per color. I had 2 colors, plus a pattern. So each group probably used 10-12 sheets

I didn't have too much leftover this time, I was going to make some squares, but the need to pack is overwhelming me, so I didn't and packed instead. I have my scrap space 95% packed up. Cricut, ATG, paper trimmers...all packed.

:rotfl2: I always have one that doesn't match the others. I figure, who is going to notice?

No Shauna, you will need at least TWO sheets per color if you want to make 5 photo mats for each group.

See, I'm brain dead. I can't figure it out so I'm going to make DH help me. I just haven't been able to do math lately. I can't wait to be clear-headed.

What kind of cutter do you have? I think it works with all cutters. I have the CM cutter, which has a sliding blade and I also use a cutter with a guillotine (the arm like paper cutters at schools) -- it is a lot of rotating and flipping the paper, but it should work. If you are interested, I'll write the steps down for you. I'd do it now, but I think I need to write the steps as I am cutting to make sure it is correct.

The hardest part is the first cut -- you will only partially cut the paper -- then rotate and flip to cut out a 5 x7 -- once you have that done the rest is not too bad. Also, I have now done it so many times, I know when to stop that first cut. 5x7 is the hardest because there is no room for error -- 4x6, 4.5 x 6.5 are pretty easy.

The hard part is the partial cutting. I only have measurements on the top & bottom, not the sides. I'd be guessing. I could try measuring first, but I'm not so good at cutting on the lines. [I don't color inside the lines either. :rotfl: ] That is why all my clipart has the white board around it. Not just because it looks cool, but I have to cut that way.

Yep -- it is guessing. You could permanently mark the side though. I am a very linear person.

I have enough trouble cutting straight anyway:lmao: If I lose concentration I have to rummage around for another sheet because I've cut in the wrong place so can't get my third mat out of the sheet :headache: Does anyone have a template for how to get the most elements out of a set of card? I've cut shapes out of the back layer before  to get enough to match as lots of the paper here only comes with 2 per colour/design, so there's always a lot of mix&match with my stuff ;)
