Colonoscopy prep

The prep wasn't bad for me but when I got to the office I was so nervous they had to give me a sedative and wait a couple mins for heart rate/blood pressure to go down. The doctors were a little upset that I didn't take my Xanax beforehand but wires must've gotten crossed and I thought I wasn't allowed to. Once I got settled down and they took me in the back room, one of the nurses said "don't I know you from High School?" I was horrified but said "ohhhh.yes" and I saw my doctor give that nurse a total death glare LOL. She wasn't there when I woke up so I'm thinking the doctor called for a different nurse. It was inappropriate because of privacy laws. When I got home I looked on Facebook and saw we had more than 15 mutual friends! If she was there for the procedure, hopefully she didn't mention anything she saw to them.

Anyway- the worst part for me were the gas pains afterwards. I took some gasx and it helped some. Good luck, OP!

What confuses me is why some have to drink a gallon of stuff and others don't? I had to take 2 pills and then a few hours later, I drank that 16 oz bottle (I think it was 16 oz) of the lemon lime stuff they had me buy at Walmart.

Just depends on your doctor and you. Drinking the gallon of stuff is the least risky way to clean everything out. Now sure HOW much safer.

Holy cow! That Magnesium Citrate drink was vile! I'm pretty tough but I gagged the whole time. I had to chase each swallow with a swig of water just to keep it down. Blech!

My sister had the white stuff that was huge but not understanding why some get the other stuff like I got. ....

Possible kidney damage and/or death.

OP, glad you had a good outcome. I really love my gastro right now, after reading all of the stuff on here. He just has his patients take a couple of Dulcolax and then we pour a whole bottle of Miralax into a gator aid, whatever flavor your want as long as it isn't red, and drink. YOu can't taste Miralax,. it was just like drinking a ton .of Gator aid NO way I would .do what some of you others have to do, I would find another Dr

According to the nurse who was doing my IV, that's all they used to do for the prep. Apparently, though, they changed the guidelines (at least in his practice) and added in drinking a bottle of (GROSS) Magnesium Citrate 4 hours prior to the procedure.
