After touring the historic areas, we gradually worked our way back to Alabama, via the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. Here are a few shots from that part of our adventure:

Just gorgeous Yeckim! I love the wispy mountain view pictures; we traveled some of the same route last fall and I could not stop taking pictures. Yours are twenty times better! Thanks for taking me back!

Your pics are great! Mabry Mill is one of my favs to photograph. We were there last year. If you ever get a chance to visit Glade Creek Grist Mill, it is located in Babcock State Park just north of Beckley, WV. We were there 1 week ago. It is very photographic.

Sharon, that is absolutely breathtaking. I assume you have that matted and framed and hanging on the wall someplace in your home...?

So that's what that is... I used to paint and made a painting of that mill from a photo I saw... won a ribbon at the fair. :thumbsup2 Beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.

Not yet:thumbsup2 . Not sure what colors I want to matte it with:confused3 . I do have the one of Mabry Mill triple matted and hanging on the wall. I didn't pick out those colors either. A photog friend of mine helped me, and he did a great job!!! Maybe I should ask the wise people on this board for thier suggestions.

See, you learn something new every day!!! Glad you enjoyed.

Stunning - one of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen posted here.

Thank you, Jen. You are most kind. I've been photographing Mabry Mill for decades (really!) and I believe this year's shots are the best I've gotten. Drizzly overcast kept the lighting nice and even w/o BLOWN HIGHLIGHTS on the roofs and also no deep shadows. Foliage was nice and colorful, too. In all, it's the "blind hog finds an acorn now and then" syndrome.

Thanks again for your kind words.
