I was wondering if anyone wanted to share what they know about the Disney College Program. It is definitely something that I'd like to do. I know a good bit about it, but I still wanted to hear from other. And, if you've done it, it'd be nice if you'd describe your experience. Thanks! :scratchin

I've heard good things. My cousin did it and now works full time at WDW. I regret not doing it :(

I believe the program is accessibile to certain schools, still through a majority of schools. You take courses on Disney property, and I believe those courses can be transfered as credits to you're school. There is more information here.

UPDATE: Looking online it seems that at the time, there aren't any positions available at the moment.

I heard that the Disney collage program is super fun!I don't know a whole bunch, but I know they have a website you can look up stuff.

Yeah, I did some research on it and now I pretty much know everything. Thanks, guys! I'm so excited to do it! Has anyone you know actually done it?

I'd love to be in the Disney College Program during college. Im super excited to apply!!! I think the DCP is the thing I'm most looking foward to in college.

Me too! It's definitely going to be VERY fun. Though, I'm still a little confused as to what Traditions is...

Traditions is a class taken by all new Walt Disney World Cast Members have to take at Disney University. Disney University is by the Magic Kingdom parking lot and has training classes. Traditions is all about learning about the company. You sit with a table group, answer trivia, watch videos, and tour the Magic Kingdom. There are also fun surprises! :smickey:

The DCP is still pretty far of for me, but I'm excited about it. This trip report about it is great, if you haven't seen it already: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3050629&highlight=frump+trip+report

What position would you like? I'm thinking either Photopass Photographer or Attractions.

My dream role would be a Tower of Terror Bellhop. The idea of attractions is cool because most attractions you get to play a role. I'd also love to be close friends with Princess Aurora. Photopass, Character Attendant, Character Costumer, and Hotel Concierge also seem like great roles.

I LOVE Jess's DCP report! I hope she updates soon, I'v missed the updates.

I'm definitely going to check that out! And don't worry, the college program is still very, very far for me too, but I'm already planning for it! I'd like to do either attractions, vacation planner, or character attendant. :)

Ok. That sounds like it could be fun. Thanks!

The DCP is a dream of mine too pixiedust: I know you don't get to pick what role you get, but do you get to at least put in what you're preferences are? There are certain jobs I don't know if I would love to wake up early in the morning and do all day every day, even though working at Disney sounds perfect and totally amazing! My dream jobs would be Tower of Terror bellhop, Jungle Cruise skipper, or Great Movie Ride performer.

I LOVE the Jungle Cruise skippers!!! That has to be one of the best jobs in attractions. I myself (if I got chosen to do attractions) would really love to work at The Haunted Mansion. Definitely one of my favorites. :)

Anyway! Got all excited there.. :goodvibes

I know two people who (somewhat) recently got back from the DCP at WDW. They both did the Fall Advantage Season (May-January) and LOVED it. One was a custodial worker and worked around the New Fantasyland Area (when it wasn't even open to the public yet! So jealous..) and the other worked at Casey's Corner. If you have any questions feel free to message me and I can hit them up! :)

You do get to tell them your preference and there's usually a good chance that you'll get what you like or at least something similar! On the first part of the interview (the online interview), if there's one you would DEFINITELY NOT want, you have to make sure to put NO interest, because even if you put "low interest", they'll still consider you for it. They'll ask you what your preferences for roles are again during the phone interview and casting, if you make it. So, don't worry! I'm so excited about it and it's still pretty far off for me. I've been doing so much research on it! In my world, you can NOT be over-prepared for the Disney College Program :)

That makes me feel a lot better! Cause I wouldn't want to leave home and be miserable doing a job I wasn't interested in! Do you know like do you have time to continue classes? Since it's during college is it like taking a break from college, or do you still continue with the same amount of classes? Stuff like that, how does that work? I really want to do it because my goal is to start is customer relations, become a tour guide, and hopefully eventually some sort of mangaer!

Every college is different, so it depends which college you go to! Some colleges like you to take one or two classes online when you're there. Other colleges like you to take an actual class or two that you have to attend at Disney University, which is where other Disney classes are taken for the program. But, some colleges don't make you take any classes while you're there, but even if they don't, you might still want to take at least one online so you don't fall behind when you get back. :wizard:

Oh ok thanks! Can you do it right after graduating?

I think you have to be enrolled in college first. I'm going to do it during my sophomore year of college because I'd definitely like to get one year (freshman year) out of the way before taking a break from college. But yeah, I think you have to be enrolled in a college before you do it, but I suppose you can do it as soon as you get to college too. :goodvibes
