College Major/Minor question

Eventually I am going to get into UC Davis and get my degree in Avian Science and minor in Psychology.

Now does anyone know, how hard is it , if I decided later on to get a degree in Psych do I just need to take a few more classes generally or is it a whole other program?

I am totally clueless.

I think you should plan on getting your master's in psychology after you finish your bachelor's degree. You might be limited in what you can do in psychology without a Ph.D.

One of the reasons I want the psych degree is because when DH did DiveQuest at Epcot he talked to the head Scuba guy. He mentioned that theanimal trainers they hire have degrees in biology/animal studies as well as psychology. They need to have both. Plus psych intrigues me. If anything though getting my Masters and maybe even my PhD in Avian Science is my top priority.

Hi Preshi. I just got my bachelor's in psych this past April. If you already have a minor in Psychology, then depending on the school you apply to a bachelor's in Psychology would simply require taking the remaining Psychology courses and not core curriculum. Other things that this may depend upon besides the school/program you choose are how long ago you got your minor, and what course were included in your minor. Schools vary in their required courses, so that might be a little difficult.

One option could be that if you graduate and only receive a minor in Psychology, you can choose to continue taking the required courses for the psychology major in order to get a bachelor's. I have a few friends who have done this.

If you choose to do Psychology, understand that you are pretty limited in a career in that field without a Masters or Ph.D or Psy.D. I plan on working for a little while, but I am definitely going to get my Masters and hopefully my Ph.D in the future. I'd like to get into counseling Psychology.
