If you are doing the CP after college graduation and you have loans, are you able to extend the 6 month grace period?

I'm not sure if this 'internship' would count as a legitimate deferment?

For example: you graduate in May, so loans would have to start in November. But you are in program until January? Will a bank let you extend grace period?

Anyone with this experience?

Thanks, Michele

It depends on your lender. Federal loans will not consider this an "internship" if you are not enrolled at least half time at a university. Private loans may or may not consider deferment. Some Private lenders may offer a forbearance on a temporary basis but during this time interest will still incur.
