My DS' DGF (one year) is graduating from college on Sunday. They are a great couple. DS is 23, DGF 21! They are verrrrry happy together. They get along wonderfully AND DH and I think the world of her. She is a living doll. We have met her family a number of times at the college during college events and they are AWESOME! :goodvibes

On Sunday after the graduation, her parents as well as two other GRAD's and their families have rented a restaurant to celebrate the graduations. :teeth:

One of the other grad's, my family knows pretty well. And the other one we do NOT know at all.

Tell me what you think:

DGF = $250.00 in a card
2nd Grad (know pretty well) = $50.00 in a card
3rd Grad (do not know at all) = just a card

Can anyone help me with this....does this sound fair????? :confused3

I think it sounds pretty fair, although I think I'd feel a bit weird not having "something" more than a card for #3. If they are all girls, maybe a bouquet of flowers for each? It doens't need to be anything fancy, just a $5-10 bouquet from the market.

Just a card for the 3rd grad? That seems odd so I would at least give some $$$ or yes, some flowers.

$250? You must really, really like her. lol

I attended graduation ceremonies for a friend and I just gave her some $$$ plus a bouquet of flowers and a graduation balloon. I think we were one of the few who gave flowers and a balloon which was really odd :confused3 - I thought that was customary, but the graduate loved it.

HEY ALL, OP here:

The third grad is a male.

Do you think too much $$$ for DGF? Not enough for grad #2? And I should get something for grad (male) #3?

UGH!!!!!!!!! :crazy:

re: DGF, she is absolutely so good to my son. Oh, man...my son has had a few GF's over the years..you know h.s. and college! But this girl just is the sweetest, caring girl. Always thinking of everyone before herself. Always trying to please her parents, her bro & sis, her girlfriends, DH & I, all the while putting my DS #1!!!.....I call her STRETCH ARMSTRONG (remember that toy doll years ago whose arms would be pulled in every direction)...that IS Diana!!!

I think you are in good shape for #1 and #2. I think you need to have "something" as a token gift for #3. Maybe a hardcover edition of a favorite book, something like that. I'd ask #1 for ideas. :goodvibes

Stick a $20 in the third card, and you'll be set. That's the most generous I'd be with what is essentially a stranger, and it still is his graduation party, after all. If I were attending and I knew some well and some not at all, I'd still feel a token was appropriate for the third one.

One unique idea at least for where you live might be to get Lei's insead of regular flowers for all three of them. I went to school in Oregon and a good % of our grads were from Hawaii so many of them had very pretty Lei's. This way they can wear the flowers and not have to hold them. It also makes them easier to pick out durring the crouded graduation. THey also dry very well and smell wonderful. My DH had them for his graduation and we even had them for the groomsmen and my DH at our wedding. Just another idea for you.
