My DS wants to apply to Cornell, U Penn, NYU, and some NY state schools.

What do you write about in your college essay application ?

Thanks!

damn i wrote my so long ago but i remeber i just wrote how awesome i was and how good i was going to do in the school i was going to and how me being there would make it better....but i also had an athletic scholarship so it was just a formality i would suggest some voluenteer work or something they did or how well rounded you are or how sports school etc. or an adversity they overcame something like that

First thing to do would be to check if those schools do the common application. If they do you can save a lot of time essay wise. Secondly I would talk to admissions counselors to try and get a sense of what the school looks for essay wise. I applied to small private liberal arts colleges that wanted creative and personal essays. Other colleges may more be concerned with the correctness of the format, grammar, and language used in an essay. My best advice is to just make sure that what you write means something to you. You need something that makes your application stand out among thousands or more essays.
