cold weather policy at AK?

Hi everyone,

The search function doesn't seem to be working at the moment, so...

Does anyone know if there is a cold weather policy at AK? My parents are there now and plan on this being their own and only park (they are only there 24 hours and have never been). They said local weather is calling for it to be 39 tomorrow morning, before it reaches nice warm temperatures- 70s.

Do they keep the animals "in" during colder weather? Its EMH hours in the morning, and they aren't sure if it is worth going if the animals wont' be out.

I am clueless as to whether any such policy exists.

I'm not an animal expert but, I think that those temps will be fine! The animals are typically more active when it is colder outside versus the heat during the summer! I believe that the animals go in during the night but come back out when the park opens and I don't think that 39 degrees will be too cold. Also, knowing that it will be going up to the 70's later the same day, I would say that they have nothing to worry about. Just tell them to bundle up and have a good time. They may get a better showing of the animals with it being cold!

If they are into roller coasters, tell them to check out Expidition Everest as it may be up and running too!

We've been lots of times when it was very cold, once right after a big freeze that killed lots of the plants. The animals were always out. 39 degrees is most likely a low, and that would happen at night around 4:00 a.m., by about 10:00 the temp. should be up in the 50's.
