We were planning on going to Seaworld this week, but with all this cold weather Orlando is having, I'm wondering if any shows or attractions will be cancelled. Does the show go on when the temps are in the 40's or 50's?

im going on January 23 n i would like to know this too... anyone??? :thumbsup2

There are no shows that should be cancelled due to cold. There may be some that might be cancelled for other weather reasons (such as heavy rains or hurricanes) but not just for the cold. However, if the crowds are light, there may be fewer shows throughout the day.

Same thing applies to attractions, there are not any that come to mind that may close due to the cold itself. However, since it is probably going to be a slow time, there may be periods of time when a specific attraction is closed for work. There may be certain food kiosks that close, however, this is probably more related to the crowd rather then the cold itself.

Note that this applies only to Sea World - so far this weekend Aquatica was closed both Saturday and Sunday due to the cold weather.

I just went today. Didnt get above 45 all day. No shows were cancelled. Infact, they still splash you at the shamu show. The attractions will never close due to cold. The only way it would be cancelled like someone said would be due to a hurricane or a bad thunderstorm. And thats for trainer and animal safety.

Actually the attractions will and do close for cold; if JTA was not "dry" it would close and Manta will not operate if under (around) 45 degrees

They were running when I went. But thanks for the info because I did not know that. Do you work at SW?

WE were at SW on 29 Dec, the 9am temp was 44 degrees & sunny - neither Manta nor Kraken were operating due to "adverse weather conditions". We were told they 'hoped' to have them running by 11.30am, they finally opened around noon.
I was told by an employee this was purely because of the cold & that the cut off temp was 54 degrees (but I'm not sure how accurate that is - I would have thought it would have been lower?)

I will have to check on the minimum temp for Manta, I have never heard of that before. But then again, it has not been this cold for a while either.

As an aside, JTA is closed through the 24th for work, and Wild Arctic is closed through the 9th.

We were there Christmas weekend and it was in the 40s and 50s and we were not aware of any cancellations, but we did not ride the roller coasters.
Just a heads up if you go when it is cold- it was really cold at the shows by the water. We wore layers of sweatshirts and jackets and gloves and were still shivering!

I have been in orlando parks all this week and last. Most of the bigger rides at the parks do not run below 45oF. The rides at SW were closed until about 1.45pm on tuesday until they were warm enough to go, even then many test rides went before it actually took anyone on it. At IOA on monday the same thing happened.

I stayed at the Hilton on I-Drive Sunday through Tuesday and my room gave me a perfect view of Sea World,we stayed in our room until 10 am or so and I kept looking to see if any of the coasters would start running and I didn't see them go once, maybe later in the day they started when things warmed up a bit, although Tuesday I don't think it even hit 50 all day.
