Hi -
So now that Halloween is over AND I just saved close to $500 on ot WL room for our January trip for DS's 16th birthday trip  - I'm starting to second guess a couple of my ADR's - mostly because I've learned here from wise souls that Epcot is the coldest, windiest park at night.

Given a choice - should I switch out of Teppan Edo or Tutto Italia ( I MUST have the $12 cannoli!)?? It's just me and my kids, as always. We got closed out of Teppan in August and I wanted the kids to have the experience of a hibachi -style restaurant. We did enjoy Alfredos' tho we schloshed to it in a torrential downpour, drying ourselves off with linen dinner napkins in the lobby.

Now I'm afraid it will be too chilly to walk around and that there might be better choices I'm not thinking of. We have ADR's for the following:

Brown Derby
Le Cellier
Kona
Teppan Edo
Tutto Italia
Ohana Breakfast
H & V
Spoodles
Crystal Palace

We've done Coral Reef, PTC, MM, Sci-Fi, Yachtsman, WCC, Concourse and I am not yet ready to take DS to CG, having cancelled ADR's twice there in the past.

Am I silly to be thinking about the cold?? Coming from NY, no less? We have always been in August or April prior to this trip, and as you can see, we've been fortunate to enjoy many restaurants, thanks to DDP.

Any thoughts and advice greatly appreciated. TIA!!!:cloud9:

Have you looked at wunderground.com's trip planner? You can input your dates to get historical weather information and average highs, lows, and the probability of various weather conditions. For our dates, in mid-to-late Jan, the average high is 70 and the average low is 48 - considering that we were perfectly happy to trick-or-treat last night without coats in windy 45* weather, I'm not too worried about the forecast for our trip. Coming from Michigan, my thinking is that cold in Florida is nothing compared to the cold we'll be leaving behind! It'll be like those first nice days of spring. Sure, it is March, windy as heck and barely over 50*, but it feels so nice after the long winter that it doesn't seem chilly at all. LOL

Hard to say what the weather will be then. I've lived here all my life and it could be 75 in January or 25 (although that doesn't happen very often and only in the middle of the night when it does.) I'd guess it will be in the high 40s to low 50s in the evening after the sun goes down.

Hey, Colleen - we will be missing each other for just about a week... I keep seeing your posts this morning!:thumbsup2

Thanks, guys, for the weather input. I will check out that site. I'm guessing I'm being unnecessarily anxious...:lmao: what else to do when the planning's all done???..lol - just about....

I would not change your ADR's. Just bring appropriate clothing for the evening. I don't think it ever feels as cold as it does in NY (We are from MA). I think you will be fine.
We ate at Teppan Edo on Saturday and it was wonderful. I think your son will enjoy it.
The new decor is beautiful. It is modern, but still Japanese and elegant.
The food was delicious. The new appetizers are great. The salad was really large and very fresh and good. I had the new Tempura appetizer and I loved it. Our Teppan dishes were really good too.
Our chef was great and we sat with a nice group of young folks
We enjoyed it a lot.
Good Luck with your planning

What are your dates? We'll be there the 16th to 27th and at the P&PP on the 26th.

LOL! I'm having the same problem. Now that the discount is out and the P&PP tickets are purchased, all the planning is done, so what do I do for the next 76 days? :rotfl:

We went in Jan...we wore t-shirts and jeans during the day and spring/fall jackets in the morning & evenings...we had one really warm day and one really cold day...could have worn gloves that day...we really enjoyed it though...there were no crowds...we walked on all rides...I wouldn't change your ADR's...we never found it too cold to walk anywhere...if dressed right...

Thanks, guys - I feel much better.. not even a chill:rotfl: Notice I never even considered the thought of cancelling LC!!!

Hopefully - I sooo appreciate your mini-review on Tappan - haven't read any yet!:thumbsup2

Colleen - our dates are 1/26-2/3 and I have not yet decided if P&PP is "worth it" for us - we've done 3 MNSSHP in the past and my kids are just so-so about P & PP.:confused3 Got spreadsheetz???LOL

I am from Delaware just outside of Philly and never felt overly cold in January wandering the world showcase. I remember one night throwing on my lighweight leather coat I wore down on the plane but otherwise I think I just went with sweaters. I think being from NY you will be just fine. Have fun!!! Your ADRs look great:thumbsup2

I'm from the land of 110 degree summers and have made 4 trips to WDW in winter. One trip, the first, was freezing every day and the CM's kept telling us that it was the coldest winter in history. But the last 3 trips have been nice. It does get cool and breezy in the evening at Epcot; hoodie sweatshirts with a light jacket are perfect for that weather. We've never been miserable or even thought about leaving before Illuminations.
