Coke, Pop, Soda or ???

What's your generic name for soft drinks? I always have called it pop and never knew any different until I came to the south and now I'm laughed at. Here, they call it a coke, whether it's pepsi, coke or anything else!

I call it Soda... my family (save DH) calls it pop (which is sounding to me) DH calls it Coke... no matter what it is, it is Coke to him.

DH and I say soda (native New Yorkers) but here in Cincinnati they call it pop. DS has learned if he really wants a cold drink, he will say soda since he knows that pop irritates us.

working in advertising and at Disney I kinda learned never to use a generic name unless I use beverage..but here where I live..it Coke..everything is coke....
