Grew up in Georgia, where it's Coke. Even if it's Pepsi, Dr Pepper, RC, or WalMart brand, it's Coke. Since Coca Cola's HQ is in Atlanta, I think it's a state law.
(hey, Deafmedic, where in north GA are you? I grew up in Calhoun)
I call it soda...Have lived up north, midwest and VA...I think Ive called it just about all of the slangs but soda sticks with me. I even called it cola at one point. DH calls it Drink...go figure.
Most of my family (including myself) has always called it soda (which is the southern way of saying it?), but we've always lived in the Northeast. My brother calls it Coke. My mother (who is from FL) calls it Tonic (which is a Northeast thing, lol).
Moved to Tennessee, and learned quickly it was Coke. I still get teased by friends and co-workers when I say pop. They find it funny - and yet I hardly order pop in public down here as I am afraid I'll get a look of "huh?". I learned that water or iced tea saves me lots of questions
