I'm concerned about the coffee situation at the resorts. DH and I have to have our cup of coffee in the morning when we wake up. We are staying at AKL and I know there are these little cuisinart one cup coffee makers that take these tiny pouches or discs of coffee. We are very picky about what coffee we like to drink, preferably Starbucks. We also have the DDP, but idk if we will like the joffreys coffee for our mugs. So, can we get better coffee at Mara as our drink that comes with our QS meal credit? Or can we buy some higher quality coffee discs somewhere? Or do they make anything like the Keurig where you have a reusable pod you can refill with whatever coffee you want?? I'm not sure what to do.

My solution is simple - I pack a 4 c coffee pot in my suitcase!!!

The little discs aren't great. You can just run water through them to get hot water and bring along some Starbucks via packs. It's actually pretty good for instant coffee. I've brought them along when traveling but not on this trip. I did run water through the little coffee machine to make tea. It heats the water up pretty good but it takes forever to drip. The joffreys coffee was fine IMO.

I pack a miniKurig in my suitcase to bring down because most coffee in WDW is not good. We make our own coffee in the mornings with the flavors we like and it gets our mornng's off to a good start! We stay at Pop Century ans use their refrig. to store the cream.

The Joffrey's coffee I had all over WDW, including the resorts and restaurants, was very good, and some was even excellent. This coming from someone who loves good coffee and is very picky about the kind I drink (Starbucks being just OK IMO). I even considered buying a bag of some of the Joffrey's special WDW whole bean roasts they sell on their website, that's how good I found them. I'm kinda surprised so many people didn't like it. If you're the kind of person who prefers lots of sweeteners and flavors in their coffee, however, you might want to consider some of the options other posters have suggested. I'm a good strong black coffee (sometimes with cream, no sugar) kind of girl, so my opinion might not be what you're looking for.

If you prefer espresso drinks, including the ultra-sugary kind like Starbucks sells, there are a few coffee places around the other resorts and parks you can go during your days. Joffrey's stands in the parks, the Contemporary Grounds at CR, Starbucks at the parks, etc. So if you just need your jolt of caffeine first thing and want to hold off for something like that after your first cup of resort coffee, you have those options too.

IMO Joffrey's coffee is really good and I don't see this being an issue for you.

Ok, so the Joffreys is definitely better than the in-room coffee. I think we will just go with that bc I do not want to pack a coffee maker in my luggage, especially since we are flying! And we normally buy Starbucks coffee that we brew ourselves, we usually don't get the sugary drinks they sell at their coffee shops. So I think we will survive. Thanks for the advice!

I concur. The in-room coffee is Joffrey's (except in the value resorts). It was WAY better than Starbucks IMO. Starbucks is served at each park and in DTD and at the S&D Resorts though.

I was really surprised at how good the Joffrey's was! I totally wasn't expecting it, especially considering how bad people said the coffee used to be at WDW back when they used Nescafe stuff instead of fresh-brewing the new Joffrey's blends. I can imagine that Nescafe stuff being horrible! I will say this: I didn't try the in-room coffee pods, just the Joffrey's they brewed at the quick service mug refill stations in my resort (we stayed at Wilderness Lodge last time). So I can't speak personally as to the quality of the pods. But if you have a refillable mug, the fresh coffee they offer for it is quite nice, and I drank a lot of it as well as the Joffrey's they brewed for the Club Level lounge. My husband even enjoyed it and he's not a big coffee drinker (although I sure have tried my hardest to make him one!).

To the original poster: a bit off-topic, but I tried Starbucks' Fall Roast the other day and it was really good. Have you bought any? I highly recommend! :)

I thought the in-room Joffrey's was very good. BUT, i put 2 pods in the machine and added more water to get a full cup of nice, hearty coffee.

I brought cream from home since I drive. If you need cream, pack a carton in your checked bag (unopened) or pour it into a plastic bottle that has a good seal so it doesn't leak. It'll stay cold in the air because of the altitude and it probably won't be at room temperature for all that long. Half and half and especially whipping cream is pretty hardy stuff. More so than milk as far as staying fresh.

A pint of whipping cream will last a good amount of time for your morning coffee since you have to use so little to get the same lightness as half and half.

I really missed my Dunkin Donuts coffee while in WDW. Cinderella's Royal Table had the only decent coffee the entire week. Contempo Cafe's was okay, but not as good as what I'm accustomed to drinking on a daily basis at home.

What I don't like about the in-room coffee is they only give you powdered creamer & sugar in little packets. I use about 6 packets of sugar a cup (I KNOW!) and I hate the powdered creamer. I ended up buying milk from the gift shop & using that instead. I also asked for more sugar.

We bring our own coffee, coffee pot and use bottled water as we are very picky about our coffee
Using bottled water is an excellent idea! I hate the taste of Disney water. Thanks for the idea, not sure why I never thought of that!

I believe the in room coffee is also Joffereys. I use distilled water. I will say that the difference between the in room and the restaurant/food court is probably the heat used. Those in room machines will only go so far which is why the grind is probably slightly different or have a instant component. The industrial machines use really hot water so you get a better brew. The first few times I tried the in room coffee I hated it, but the last two times (which have been since the change from Nescafe to Joffereys) have been much better.

Luckily I like iced coffee so I tend to stick to Via packs or other portable coffee concentrates. Maxwell House has a great no refrigeration needed concentrate that has become my new travel favorite. Just add hot or cold water and you get a perfect tasting cup of coffee in seconds. Comes in handy when I prefer cold coffee (cause cooling down hot coffee with ice just doesn't do it for me) or when I don't have a maker in room (I do value stays on my solo trips).

I'm going to look for the Maxwell House coffee. I prefer iced coffee to hot but hate the watered-down flavor of iced coffee made with hot coffee and ice.

Not being a huge fan of drip coffee (from shops or made at home), I am often either hunting down someplace for coffee or bringing my own. While a bit pricier, some of the resorts offer French Presses for two. Or you could just create a coffee travel kit (hot water heater, portable grinder, travel mugs, pour over funnel and filters). My husband gave me a Timbuk2 BlueBottle Coffee Travel kit last Christmas, and I love it.

I just got back from a stay at Pop, where there are no coffee makers in the room. I shipped a Black & Decker travel coffee maker from Amazon (& brought it home) and also brought the small #1 filters & some good espresso ground coffee (actually, the coffee was in an Amazon Prime box that I also shipped). I also included some disposable coffee cups. I had a very nice good strong cup of coffee every morning when I woke up!
Then, when I got home, I found out you can buy the little discs from various sites on the internet, similar to the ones provided at hotels like Disney ones. I don't really care so much for Joffrey's, so may bring my own next trip. I ordered a large amount from Amazon; I chose the Sumatra ones (I like Starbuck's Sumatra blend; it's nice and strong tasting).
You can look online for them if you want to try them.
I also agree about using bottled water. Although I didn't this trip, at past stays at the BWV when we brought our own Starbuck's good coffee and used the regular coffee pot, our first pot tasted terrible! Then I started using our bottled water, and the coffee tasted so much better!
