You can get pretty good espresso drinks at the coffee bar in Cabanas. I stopped by for a cappucino each morning when we were on the Dream. Prices were about the same as at Starbucks.
I was going to bring a french press. Not sure why they serve such lousy coffee although all the cruise lines seem to do it. You can get better coffee at McDonalds than you can from Disney.
What would you use for the French Press? I love the idea, not sure if I can swing it by the dh though. What kind of coffee do you use/ how would you get water that's hot enough?
We thought the coffee in the MDR and at Palo was good. It's not gourmet but pretty darn good. I think Starbucks coffee tastes "burnt" <ducking> well excpet for the peppermint mocha frap. We have a Keurig at home and are accustomed to the K Cups

Most of the grocery stores have whole bean coffee and grinders. I haven't been on Disney yet but on NCL I would just go to the beverage station and they had a tap for hot water. Like you said as long as the water is very hot a french press works great.
Good idea, maybe we'll try this. Coffee on Disney...bad. Coffee on Carnival...bad. Coffee on Celebrity...bad. Coffee on RCI...bad. I'm seeing a trend here.
What is is with these cruise lines? They've managed to create such a great product that keeps us all coming back for more but can't serve a decent cup of coffee to save their lives. I'm convinced it's a conspiracy to make us buy their specialty coffees.
We did the Starbucks VIA for our October WDW trip and they were STRONG and I like strong coffee.
The only time I enjoyed the WDW coffee was at French Quarter. Loved walking through CS area and getting my morning cup of coffee and smelling the benigent (spelling?) and getting on the bus.
