:coffee: So...

I've taken one more step towards becoming my parents. I now drink black coffee instead of soda. Those morning and early afternoon cups are becoming pretty darn important to me. I started drinking coffee after my last trip to WDW so I'm not really prepared for this at all. I've heard nightmare stories about the quality of coffee there. I don't own a coffee machine yet. There's a free Starbucks machine at work so I'm spoiled by that. And, I grab the occasional cup from Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts or the convenience store.

I'll be at Boardwalk Villas and BLT this trip. Where should I go for my morning cup? (doesn't have to be the first thing I drink) Where are the good places for coffee in the parks? What are the coffee connoisseur’s WDW tips?

All the coffee stops around Epcot are pretty good. Joffreys I believe.

Not much of a coffee person myself but my brother and mother described it as the best coffee in the world (Showcase).

There's a Starbucks at Epcot and MK which would be close to both of your resorts. I have a Starbucks daily addiction so I tend to get my coffee in the parks rather than resorts. I have bought Joffrey's near the UK in the World Showcase and it wasn't too bad actually.

We bring coffee and filters (round, flat bottom) with us and enjoy our morning cuppa in the room!

BTW, loved your intro ... that next step towards becoming your parents. It is an amazing journey ... and curious thing, indeed.

It's rough but my waistline just couldn't handle that amount of soda anymore. I only drink one a day now at lunch and it's definitely made a positive impact. I'm a coffee baby in the sense that I don't have a clue how to operate a Mr. Coffee... I'm not sure vacation is the time to learn.

I bring my own espresso machine and make espresso and latte's in the room. Organic espresso roast from Mayorga right now....

When at BLT go over the the contemporary and get your coffee at the coffee bar in the lobby near the check in desks. (I think that is still there)
Otherwise, starbucks.

Every once in a while I will open one of the Jofferey's packs in the room and load my machine with it--- and I can't believe people can drink that swill--- especially through a drip machine.....

I was at BWV a couple weeks ago and making coffee in-room is pretty simple. The rooms are stocked with filter packets that have the coffee grounds inside of the sealed mesh paper. All you do is drop the pouch in the coffee maker's plastic basket and fill the water reservoir. It brews on its own.

If you aren't a coffee snob, I found the product in the room to be decent.

They also sell fresh brewed coffee off the BoardWalk lobby in the Belle Vue Room. I think that's Joffrey's but not sure.

Like others said, Starbucks and Joffreys are in the parks.

You could also stop at Boardwalk Bakery. It is relaxing having that first cup outside on the boardwalk, people watching or just hanging out.

We bring our own grounds and filters and make a pot in the morning. We also are sugar and half and half fans, sugar is easily brought down, half and half we buy at the gift shop.

If you like Starbucks (my husband prefers a lighter roast than what Starbucks does), they will grind you up your favorite beans to take down with you - and probably even tell you how many teaspoons of grounds per cup to use (usually one per cup or so). The coffee machines at the resorts are Mr. Coffee basket type machines, so you want basket filters which you should bring (you can get enough to last the rest of your DVC life at the Dollar Store for a buck).

If you go often enough for an Owners Locker and have stuff you want to keep for your DVC trips all the time, a lot of people keep a small Keurig in their owners locker. Keurigs are great for vacations where you have four coffee drinkers, one who likes a French Roast, one who only drinks decaf, one who like flavored coffee and the last that wants a light roast. They are less useful (and sort of pricey) if you can get by with one pot for everyone.

Has he tried the blonde roast? It doesn't get much lighter than that...

The beauty of the light roasts is that they have much more caffeine.

Love having my morning coffee at the Boardwalk Bakery when staying at BCV or BWV! Great way to stretch the legs in the quiet hours if the morning.:goodvibes:thumbsup2

He likes Caribou'a African Peaberry. It isn't just the roast, its the beans - and he is a little bit (a huge) coffee snob.

Have you tried to switch to decaf coffee? You'll be miserable for a week or two (I know I did), but then you'll get free from the addiction and you'll be be better if you won't be able to get your cup.

Oh sure, you can't let me be in denial about ONE thing........

Peaberry has a very distinctive taste and you won't find anything comparable at Disney World. If that is what he loves, I'd throw a bag in your luggage and make it in the mornings. If he is just looking for a good cup of coffee while you are out in the parks that is lighter than Starbuck's Pike Place (their medium brewed blend) then their blond roast is good (although it is not always brewed and the pour over they offer does not do it any justice - in that case, skip it.) I suppose I'm a coffee snob although I just care that it tastes good so I'm not brand/blend picky. We always just bring our own coffee and filters and make a cup before we leave in the morning. We also bring disposable cups with tops to carry along in the morning. Otherwise, the Joffrey's is decent and much better than the vendor WDW had prior to them. If you are in Animal Kingdom - there is a coffee stand that we always hit that has iced coffee we both enjoy. This post makes me wonder about Italy in Epcot - do the table service restuarants have an espresso and is the coffee served an italian espresso? Hmmm...I'll think I'll find out in a couple of weeks.

When you are at BLT head over to the POLY and grab some Kona coffee :)

I'll definitely do this at least once. I love Poly's lobby and could drink a cup lounging there. I'll also be back one night for Spirit of Aloha.

I do love that bakery too. I hope the coffee is good there. I can see me being a hero one morning carrying some breakfast treats back.
