Coffee people...what is a good brand?

Just a useless FYI - if you are given a bag of whole bean coffee from Starbucks, they will grind it in store for you. I have been given a few bags recently and just stop by and they do it for free.

I care more about the freshness than the brand.

If your lucky enough to have a local roaster (we have a couple here in Savannah), you'll probably find a better coffee there than anything Charbucks sells.

Freshly roasted coffee really is better. I didn't know for years (decades) why I liked coffee so much better in New Orleans. About 1/3 of the coffee for the U.S. comes in the port and gets roasted here. Even fairly inexpensive coffee is good when the beans are freshly roasted.

I used to love Starbucks coffee, but tried Cafe Du Monde and will never drink anything else unless I have to. The chicory makes the coffee bold not bitter.

Caribou coffee is by far my favorite.....the aroma of it is like nothing else!!! You can get in online as the above poster stated if you are not lucky enough to have them in your area.

If you want to buy coffee shop coffee, see if you have a Dunn Brothers near you. They roast their beans right in the shop. I generally buy Cameron's from the grocery store. You can buy the whole beans or grind it at the store but I would buy some beans and a grinder because coffee is just better that way.

If you live near a Trader Joes, they have a Kona (beans) that is great.

and get them a grinder! Fresh ground coffee is best!

I use a press but some people still use the automatic ones.

The Starbucks stuff is over roasted.

The Dunkin Donuts stuff is pretty good, but not on par with a good Kona.

If you have time, there are a large number of places on-line that will sell you stuff, and you can even send it as a gift.
