Coffee at Disneyworld

So, I keep reading how the coffee in Disney is awful and you should bring your own.

I'm just curious what my fellow Canadians (who I assume love Timmies) think of the coffee. I have never been anywhere in the US where they had a good cup of coffee. (Sorry neighbours!)

So, I'm thinking, if the majority of US dis'ers think the coffee at the world is gross, does that mean I will like it, seeing as I don't like the coffee that they seem to like?

Compared to a double double at Tims, will I be ok? We're doing a split stay at POP / CSR, so should I plan to bring a coffee maker to POP? Or start my caffeine detox well in advance?

I don't drink coffee at WDW, but hubby who does, says it's terrible - he'd rather go without coffee while we're there. If you absolutely need your coffee in the morning, take your own coffee maker and coffee.

They have Nescafe (not even sure if it's brewed or instant), it comes out of a machine, and is gritty and can probably peel paint!

If coffee is important, packing it is not a bad option.

You can however get a fresh brewed "Pressed Pot" coffee at Kona Cafe in the Poly, as well I believe at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The coffee is bad, don't know if the blame lies with the coffee itself or that awful Orlando water! We usually bring our own down to use in the in-room coffee maker, and remember to always use bottled water to brew it.

My hubby who is a die hard Timmy's guy and who absolutley needs his morning Java WILL drink the nescrape at WDW. Doesn't like it, but WILL drink it!

Me on the other hand, I CANNOT stand the coffee and would rather suffer a caffeine withdrawl headache than drink that nasty stuff! We LOVED the coffee at AK (I believe it is Joffrey's??) and the POLY! Our first trip we brought our own coffee and filters and had Timmy's every day!! If you REALLY need your morning coffee THAT is the way to do it!

I believe it is No.4 size filters for the coffee pots at the mods and deluxes!

Agreed that the Orlando water is dreadful. I don't see how anyone using Orlando water could possibly make drinkable coffee or tea, unless they filter the water. You can get decent coffee at selected locations in WDW--one of the reasons I really like staying at the Poly is the coffee available at the coffee stand near the Kona Cafe! Pressed pot coffee is also very good. The coffee I have had at most of the signature restaurants is OK (at V&A, excellent). WDW supplies Nescafe almost everywhere else--there may be a few other exceptions to the rule.
I would not use an in-room coffeemaker at any of the onsite hotels unless you put bottled or filtered water in the coffeemaker--and supply your own coffee.

the coffee in most places does suck, however the coffee at the KONA cafe at the Poly is wonderful. I think that there are a few other places that you can it as well. I believe it is called KONA coffee. I would try googling it and see what you come up with. Otherwise if you have a coffee maker bring your own

I liken the coffee served in the majority of WDW as slightly flavoured brown water... it really is putrid!

Nothing like Timmy's which I happen to enjoy even though I am a coffee snob and grind my own beans fresh and use a professional espresso machine at home.

There is an espresso stand near France ((In Epcot)) which is pretty good and the coffee from the restaurant in Poly is good. Other than that we just brew our own pot in the room for our morning cup. Each trip I try some in my refillable mug from the resort to see 'if maybe it's better' and I just end up dumping it after a couple of sips. .... when will I learn to trust my gut?

Coffee at the World is generally not good. There are exceptions like Kona Cafe or at Artitsts Point or Jiko where they have press-pot coffee available. We are also not huge Timmies fans, as we like stronger flavoured coffee. We just bring our own (coffee and filters) and make it ourselves in the morning (love sitting on the balcony of OKW with a steaming cup of coffee before hitting the parks!).

So if you really need a good coffee to start out your day, definitely bring your own (and something to brew it in if at a value resort, I believe the moderates have coffee makers)

I can choke down the coffee, but as mentioned, there are spots with good coffee. Aside from Poly and AKL, there is a coffee stand in AK park that also has wonderful coffee. There's also a coffee stand in DHS by TOT that has good coffee. You pass by it after exiting that ride. You can also get good coffee at Epcot in World Showcase.
The coffee makers in your room are the small 4 cup ones. So you could bring your own filters and coffee for your room. I don't bother, as I can usually find decent coffee at the parks. Haven't found any at MK yet. Maybe someone knows of a hidden cart there. Poly is close by though!

You can buy (one pot) packages at Tim's. I think they come in a box of 6 or 8. We just throw those in our suitcase when we go. It isn't the best coffee (given the cheap coffee makers in the room and tap water) but alot better than the coffee you will find in WDW.

I could not believe it when I drank my 1st cup of coffee at All Star Movies a few years ago. Had to go 1/2 and 1/2 with 'coffee' and hot chocolate to get anything down. I love my coffee, drink it black because I enjoy coffee (not milk with a couple drops of coffee).

It's too difficult to pack your own coffee maker unless you drive, but we have brought our own coffee packs down and try to get hold of bottled water to put through the machine.

Remember at Timmies, though their coffee quality has gone down as well, they are consistently cleaning their coffee machines, using only filtered water and using a better coffee bean. Their business is coffee however, Disney's business is the Mouse.

(BTW, the coffee we bring is not Timmies, but a better coffee we have available here)

I don't drink coffee but my DH does. Since I bring a travel kettle for myself to make tea he brings some instant coffee from home. He finds that good instant is better than the nescrape. His only unresolved complaint is that he can't get 18% cream at WDW.

We do exactly the same but we use bottled water. We're the couple walking around with our Tim's mugs on our backpacks! I keep telling dh we need to open a Tim's franchise on I-Drive!

That describes it .... I am a chronic coffee drinker at home ... and I cant drink the disney stuff ... I cut it with hot chocolate 50/50

I suffer from Nescaphobia .... a fear of Disney Nescafe coffee
