I have been on these boards many times but am still not sure how to use the "codes" or how to find out where you get these "codes".

I feel so stupid asking this but......

I'm assuming that certain codes give you discounts on rooms but how do you find out these codes and how do you apply them to a reservation? Do you just call up and say "I want code???" and they give it to you?? How often do these codes come out?? I am planning a trip for next August and was wondering when and how I should begin to look for a "code". Also, can I use a "code" in addition to a discount with the DC.??

Right now all you veterans are saying what a goofball my2boys is but I also know with my experience on these boards that you will be willing to help out this big goofball.......HEE-HEE :) :) :) :)

Thank you...Thank you.....Thank you!!

Love from the Goofball!!!!

try www.mousesavers.com

This has lots of information regarding discounts at WDW and the surrounding areas.

P.S. - you're NOT a goofball (at least not for asking this question ;)) that's what the boards are here for!

Two big Mickey thumbs up for Mousesavers! Some of the codes can save you up to 40% (!!!) which can be big savings. Mousesavers has codes for rental cars also. There are also lots of tips on how to save $ while at Disney. This is a terrific site to bookmark and refer back to before your trip. My DW prints out several pages to take with us to Disney.

Codes are discounts that have limited availability. To get the code rate you do just as you said, call them up and ask if there are any rooms available with code XYZ discount. Since they are limited there may or may not be availability when you call. Also some codes are limited to AP holder, residence of certain states etc. So when looking for codes, make sure you qualify for the discount.

Like the previous posters have stated a good source for information on what codes are available Mousesavers.com is a good source, as is this board.

I used a code from mousesavers this past June, I found out about it here. I already had a reservation at the Polynesian, I just called and said, could apply code 'XYZ' to my ressie. They said yes, and I actually was able to upgrade to concierge and my total package cost went down. It was fantastic.
Unfortunatley, codes don't seem to come out until a couple of months before the qualifying dates. Right now, I am still waiting for codes for this January. Some people out here have speculated codes might come out Sept 23, others November! But, you can still make a ressie, then apply a code later. :teeth:
Happy planning!

I write down all the codes before I call. I start with the best and take if if they have some rooms left, if not I move on to the next code. I never had a cm yet who minded looking up several codes. And actually most are happy to have helped you find good rate.

Thank you all for your input.....I have bookmarked Mousesavers.com and will check back periodically to see if any good codes come out for me. Like I said, I just started planning for next summer but every little bit of savings helps!!

Since the codes have been explained so well. I will just add that most of the time the codes are introduced about 3-4 months in advance. Since they are limited we usually make a resv with the available rate and then when the codes come out check for availability again at the lower rate. That way we know we have a resv., especially during holiday periods.
