Code watch January 2017

I think it really depends on where you are coming from. We are from Michigan and have been to WDW/Florida in January or February every year since 2006 and have swam every year. To us it feels warm/hot Some evenings we would wear a jacket but always had shorts on.

it was the coldest day that I have ever witnessed in WDW and I've been there for over 20 vacations. It was a high of 48 with a wind chill in the low 30's. I have no explanation for the woman behind us. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I'm from New England, maybe she's from Alaska?

I was there the same week! SO glad I wore my winter coat on the flight because I needed it for the parks. Brrrrr! I hope it's warmer this year.

we've been going in January for years and it was the first time I needed a scarf!!! I sat out at Stormalong Bay one day during that week and I literally was like one of 10 people. It was so weird.

All I know is that I would be as bundled up as you!!!:rotfl::confused3

...or Canadian. We're from western Canada and when we went to WDW over Christmas in 2009 (several nights of frost) it was actually warmer at home than at WDW on some days. You can bet we were wearing our coats/gloves/hats from home on those days! DW's uncle wears shorts year round, though the rest of the family thinks he's a bit odd!

Last January, hahahaha....hoping no repeat of that weather!!! (This was Jan 23, 2016)

Ahhhh! We were at Hollywood Studios that day, and I still remember how horribly cold it was! And honestly, it wouldn't have been so bad had it not been for the wind. The wind was just awful. I was so upset because it was the only day we had planned at HS, and it wasn't even enjoyable. We've planned 2 days there for this next trip, just in case.

So, do we have any idea on when we should know what the January discounts will be yet?

If it's anything like last year, it should be in the next week or so.

We started that day at MK, ate at Crystal Palace, and then my husband and daughter were done and went back to YC. I then went to Epcot, it took everything I had to keep my hood of my coat up, while wearing a baseball hat and scarf and two layers of clothing. hahahaha

I'm waiting for Cheaptickets to update their inventory for January, I'm hoping to stack some discounts. The last couple of years it looks like I booked our trips around the first week of October, when I look back at my credit card bills. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I find that packing for layers works best for this season.... layering a shirt and sweater under a light windbreaker shell that's waterproof takes care of most situations.... but I also bring thin gloves, and a couple of light scarves if it's really chilly. Layered clothes+shell gives as much warmth as a bulky coat, and can be tailored for each days needs...

I've never been in January, but that's pretty much what I do in February. I take one pair of lightweight shorts and a tank or two. Then I do layers for the rest. It could be 80 degrees, or it could be 30 degrees!

When I go in January or February, it is always the coldest week of the year. Beware, I'm going the last week of January.

I often go in January. It is so hard to pack. Really need to bring layers. It can be 72 one day 48 the next then 65 then back to 42.

I have swam and then froze the next day!

I bring shorts, capris and jeans. Then I have short sleeve and long sleeve t's to wear alone or layer under light weight sweatshirts and zip up jacket. I often have to take off a layer in the morning as it gets warmer or add the layer at night as sun sets. There is a big difference between temps during the day.

If you go to F! dress warmly! It gets really cold when dark and near the water in the winter.I usually bring gloves for this!

there's definitely been times when we've been at WDW with only 2 pairs of jeans each and we needed them every day. I'm guessing they were becoming questionable by the end of the week. :rotfl::rotfl:

I now bring 3 pairs of jeans. Last January the sky opened up one day on our way from the Mexican pavilion to YC/BC and my sneakers and wind breaker got soaked. We went down to the quiet pool and threw the stuff in a dryer and sat in the hot tub while we waited. That was the only time that I got intentionally wet. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Pro-Bowl Weekend, the last weekend of January, Although I am having difficulties finding a place I want to stay, may have to think about the Dark Side of Orlando.
