Code watch for those of us blacked out by free dining!!

I had the same issue. I changed my reservations to two reservations, booking Caribbean Resort - room only for the 11th using my AAA discount ($162 after tax) and then booked 12th thru the 16th with free dining. I then purchased Christmas Party tickets for the 11th at the $57 rate, which is less than the one day ticket price. Since we are not getting into MCO until 2:40, the Christmas Party will work out great for us. Will have to pay "out of pocket" for dinner that night but we saved $400+ with free dining so I am not too upset.


I'm in too! We missed free dining by 1 day!! 1 DAY!!!:eek: We arrive November 11 and it starts on the 12th. Oh well, we were lucky enough to get a 30% off pin earlier, so at least we have something.
 
What exactly do you mean by BLACKED OUT!!! I am supposed to be going with agroup of Disabled October 14th thu 19th!! I haven't heard from the company or the TA which resort but I requested POP!!!

"Blacked out" means that there are certain dates where guests are not eligible to take advantage of the current promotion; in this case free dining. This is usually the case during a holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas.

For example, we're going to be there 11/19-11/27. The last day of free dining is 11/18 and then it starts back up on 11/28. Because we can't leave a day earlier or stay a day later we miss out on free dining. It sucks but that's just how it is.
 
Pretty upset about the blackout!!! I have been praying for FD since we booked our trip. We are going 10/13 - 10/20 and it looks like I am paying rack rate. I am starting to think Disney doesn't love me they way I love them!

Every time I call to ask about a pin, they act like I am clueless and there is not such thing. I keep getting the, "We e-mail you pin codes when you have them." response.

Still keeping my fingers crossed!!

We are waiting too. Going from October 13 to 21. Hopefully something comes up.

we must be talking to the same CM's because they do not want to help me either. They told me unless i hear it from a CM i shouldnt believe anything!! so nasty...why cant when i call i get a CM who wants me to save money!! :sad1:

You have to look at it from the CM point of view since I have heard they must meet certain "quotas" in New Bookings in order to keep their jobs, when someone calls to change or modify a previous reservation because of a promo the CM does not recieve credit for this booking so it is taking up their time and not helping them to hold onto their job , the time spent is only hindering them in not taking calls for new bookings-that "nasty" CM may be on the fence, about to be let go , I can not even imagine working under that kind of pressure and still being able to be all cheery.

Wow, really? :confused:That's pretty awful. You think they would at least then have a secondary group where modifications were routed that were paid on an hourly basis. Seems that to your point they are really incenting those people to get the modifications off the phone ASAP. Can't say I blame the CMs, in this economy.
 
I was told that I didn't have the new Pin attached to my name, either, but I haven't given up hope. I am sure that there are lots of CMs that will not tell you about a Pin Code that hasn't even been released yet. Still confuses me why they sometimes attach a code to your name and don't email or snail mail you about it, but I have definitely had it happen. I will for sure be calling next week to see if I get the new Pin. I had the Monster Pin, which of course I couldn't use because of the blackout dates, so I am hoping that since I didn't use it Disney will give me the new one. Maybe?
 
IlovemythreeC's: Where in Louisiana are you from and where are you staying in Disney? We are from Gonzales and staying at CBR. Its our 25th anniversary. NO KIDS!!!
 
I was also surprised to see our week October 17-23 blacked out. I called and the CM said she has no idea why they black out certain weeks.

Is there any way to find out if a big event is happening that week? One year we were there with the Pop Warner group. Another year we were there during a cheerleading convention. That was the worst. I actually got into an argument with a cheerleading mom :rolleyes:. She decided to claim a table that I was in the process of seating my kids at. It was truly bizarre.

I am going the 14th thru 19th !! As I am going as an escort for the Dev. Disabled my trip is free but I would have loved to point out to teh Company that free dining was available !! I too don't understand that week unless it is Columbus day week !!
 
As I've posted in previous threads, I found out Thursday night that I too have the FD pin attached to my name/email addy, but it won't activate until 7/13.

I ended up talking to three different CMs Thursday, each one being very helpful and willing to look for me. The first said there was one, but I was stupid and didn't get details, so I called back. The second CM said there were two, but my travel dates were blacked out. Finally, I called back that night after reading about everyone having a "7/13" code. The CM I spoke with told me that I had that one, gave me the code and said my TA would have to apply it to my ressie since she was the one who booked it.

The last CM I spoke with also told me that most PINs are put into the system early for testing purposes and even confirmed which email address it was attached to. He said that it should be going out, via email, on or after 7/13. He didn't indicate, and I didn't ask, if this was a general public code or one that's randomly "assigned".

For those that haven't had any luck with CMs, keep calling. Be courteous and upfront with them, and if it doesn't work out thank them for their time and hard work. (and then call again the next day...:laughing:) ;)

I asked if she could give me the 15 digit PIN associated with the 3-digit code given to me the other night. She said she could, and she did.

I then mentioned that a previous CM mentioned that the code couldn't be applied until 7/13. She said it should be able to be applied right now.

Of course WE didn't get it, but gives me some hope.....

"Just received an email for the 30/35/40 pin code for stays most nights now-10/7/10, 10/11-11/23/10 and 11/28-12/16/10."

I saw a post about the pin and then called. My original call was to get a quote for AKL using the 40% pin for the first 4 nights of our trip. After I got that I asked the CM if there might be any other pin codes attached to our name and she said yes.

Whew! I'm relieved to hear there is another PIN that might be available!

We have friends going with us (we're DVC) but they need a discount from Dec 4-10!

I'd also love to apply something to my YC (before DVC stay) for a few nights. I'd love a room only % off. Of course I got the Monster PIN with my dates blacked out.;)
