Code-Entering Marathon

Okay, it's been a slow week at work, and for some reason I can't access VMK at work, but I can access all the external games (Narnia, Pirates, etc.), and this week alone I've managed to amass 700 Pirates codes for the Sparrow suit, of which I've had enough time to enter in less than 50. I'm planning to spend this weekend on my mule entering codes while my fiance controls our main character so we can get pins and whatnot.

My question is has anyone done a code-entering marathon like this before, and if so, do you have any tips for what I can do to keep from going insane or having my head explode?

MOST of those codes ARE NO LONGER TRADABLE with the exception of the SParrow COSTUME... Everything else can not be traded to your main peeps, just in case you didnt know that...

1) Dont enter them too fast...
2) Dont enter too many on any one peep... not sure how many is too many I do around 30 a peep... but I am a big chicken
3) If a code doesnt work, try going into another room and trying it. If subsequent codes dont work, log off and back on.
4) Check the codes off as you do them so you dont waste time with codes you already entered.

that's about all I have to say on that... anyone else?

Mmmm... Peeps it's getting to be Halloween soon so i get to eat the little pumpkins and ghosts etc.

Anyway.. if your asking if anyone has ever entered that many codes at once.. then yes most people have.. it's called the month of July.. aka Pirate Month :teeth:

My advice is to enter them slowly. If you go too fast, VMK could think you are using a scripting tool and ban you .

For the first three weeks after that acursed game came out I entered 1111 codes (seemed a good number to stop at). I would get them 25 at a time and list them in Notepad in groups of five with a blank line after each five. I would enter them five at a time keeping my messages so I could keep count of which ones. After five I would erase my messages and then erase them from Notepad.

As previous person talked about, I would occasionally get a bad code... maybe 1/25. I would try it a 2nd time (double-checking for typeos), and then just leave it and move on to another. If I got 3 in a row I would quit for the night and try those the next day. Sometimes the would work, sometimes not.

After entering the 25 I would go get 25 more codes. I could usually do 100 a sitting. (Note that this was before all the crackdown on cheaters, so I don't know if 100 is still good).

After 100 codes I would go insane :bitelip: and either talk nonsense while drooling on my rubber ducky or jump in/out of a pool thinking I was an lime in a gin and tonic.

After that I could come back and play some more.

After the 1111 codes I gave up and traded what amounts to 2 rooms worth of rare (including old Pirates, 50th and other DLR Quest) for my costume. It was a crazy trade, but I wasn't having fun playing this "game" anymore. :badpc:

Anyway, Doctor's say I'm much better now. :sunny:

lol poor Goof..I'm right there with ya though :) I've entered at least 5,000 (never underestimate the dedication of a mother trying to get something for her kids...) and no suit for me either and I'm WAYYYYYY past fun :joker: :rotfl: :joker:

Thanks for the info everyone. :thumbsup2

So, did anyone else (like Bob, for example) get exceptionally bored when entering in 100 codes at once? Because just entering in the 50 that I did earlier was boring enough. I need to figure out a way that I can do this while still keeping myself entertained.

I take it nice and easy, bc a lot of ppl go crazy getting codes for nothing. It kinda reminds me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... XP

I thought the lemon in the gin and tonic was my insane imagination. You were right there with me? Wow! Cool, there really was a lemon there!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I have another VMK friend who has been trying to get Sparrow for her kids. She's in the 1000 code range (she doesn't enter anywhere near as many codes at any one sitting), but keeps chugging away, so I don't underestimate the will of a Mother to see her kids smile!

But wow. 5000 codes? Another friend got to 5500 and stopped and traded. After her putting in 5500 and not getting Sparrow and seeing what she used to trade to get it, I figured I'd quite while I was ahead and traded. Of course when I went to do it my trade cost more. Ah well. I was deperate and too chicked to persevere as you 5k people have. LOL :rolleyes1

Anywho, if you're still entering codes, even though I'm not, and you need a lime to join you for a dip, let me know! Hahahaha... :joker:

Well, it's not really for nothing. I'm thinking about the 3,500 credits this is going to net me when I sell this stuff. Of course, that, too, presents a problem, as that will be boring as well.

Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier, as far as keeping track of which codes I've used and which I haven't... since I started keeping track of the codes I've entered (which I probably entered close to 100 before I decided to start keeping track), I've entered all the codes into a Word document and next to each used code, I've put what that code gave me in parentheses. Counting this new batch of 700, I am now on page 13 of the Word document with 92 codes per page. :faint: :scared:

On that note

Good morning starshine! The earth says hello! :teeth:

One more thing to add, you can also enter more codes if you turn on the Caps Lock. Like first enter them in lower case, then when it won't let you enter any more, do it in all capitals.
And for the record, no Sparrow for me either. ;)

I was thinking about doing that too, when and if I get the suit. Only problem with that is, you actually have to WAIT in between plays of everest level 3 for credits.

max is 20 codes can be entered per login. So enter 20, log out, log in enter 20. It will take a while but will not get u banned

Is it sad that I have my watch count down timer set to 7 minutes so that while I'm on my computer after VMK closes, I don't forget to play Everest L3 for another code?

For some reason I don't get as bleary eyed entering EL3 codes versus the pirate codes. I think because you can only be lied to that you're the Envy of the Kingdom so many times for worthless posters and organs before you go mad. At least with EL3 you know your getting someting for your time (250 credits if you sell the car, for those that may not know :teacher: ).

And I do the same w/EL3 codes as with Pirates - I put them in Notepad (groups of 4 as that's a 1000 credits in my mind) and will enter 20-24 at a time. Maybe that's why I'm not insane... not doing 100 per go this time. Heh. Could be.

Oh, and I always play EL3 when I'm logging back on after a dc (I can complete EL3 in less than 1 minutes). I consider it my dc bonus. Heh.

Well, all you have to do is quit out of the program and go back in. Once you get into a rhythm, you can pull down 4 codes in 10 minutes, at least. Nearly 6,000 credits an hour if you so much as want. :confused3

But you gotta gear yourself up for it. I have been wanting to do this for a couple weeks now, but have yet to find the inspiration. Now that I'm tired of running out of credits, the right inspiration has struck. :thumbsup2

I've entered more than 20 per log in. I stay up late after VMK closes and surf the threads (playing EL3 every 7 minutes). I save up my codes (16-24) and enter them the next day. Plus while I'm logged on I will play EL3 a few times if my Trade room gets empty or while waiting for a Fireworks game to start, etc.

I'm sure I've entered 30ish codes from time to time...

Where did you hear that number, or am I soon to be banned? :guilty:

Maybe I should pace myself! :sad2:

Are you sure? Quiting the program and reopening will "reset" the time between codes? Hmmm... Will have to try that. :woohoo:

You can do that? It screwed my computer up trying to play EL3 while logged on to VMK. Both VMK and Everest froze up entirely. I ended up having to do a hard reboot to fix it... :sad2:
