Ok...so I've been to Daytona a few times, but only to hit the beach. I know that if I really did my homework, I could find a lot better beaches than D or C, but we are sticking with either one this trip.

We are a couple in our late 20s who'll be wanting to spend some good water and laying out time on a beach. I would also like to eat some where good and hit some worth while shops (not the ones with all the cheap kitchy stuff).

Any help/advice/recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

If your going on a Thursday or an Sunday(Or a Saturday after Sept 3) I would do CoCoa because you would get a chance to see the Magic or the Wonder go out of port. They are amazing ships to see. Ther are other cruise lines that sail out of there also. There is a bar called Grills right at the port that you could get good food and enjoy watching the ships. We just really love seeing the ships go out!

Our family enjoys Cocoa Beach a lot more than Daytona. It is much more relaxed as far as I am Concerned.

If you go to Cocoa you can always hit Ron Jon's for some shopping! DH's favorite!

We just got back yesterday from Cocoa Beach (and WDW). We spend 4 days there. The beaches were good, not as nice as say, Cancun, but way better then the beaches around Naples/Marco Island. We stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites. If I had to do it again, I would stay at a beach front hotel, a nice one (they were booked for the oceanfront rooms and didn't want a parking lot view when we were at the ocean). Our hotel was ok. The outside of the hotel was really grubby. Our room was ok, new carpet and ok bathroom. We had an oceanview.

We saw several ships coming and going, including the Wonder. We at one night at Slow and Low Bar-B-Que, it is on Orlando Ave in Cocoa. The food was really good!

If you are there during a launch window for the Space Shuttle, the beaches there are excellent viewing spots. We could see the launch platforms from the beach. Kennedy Space Center is a great place to visit, too.
