Hi Everyone

We are headed to Orlando in June for two weeks. We are doing one week at Disney and one week off property to relax and check out some other area attractions. We thought we would do a day trip to Coco Beach one day. We have never been there before; so I have some questions. Is there a certain area of the beach we should go to that offers showers/bathrooms, places to eat etc. It will be me, my husband and 4 children ages, 15,12,10 and 16 month old (so we really need facilities for the baby). Also am I right that it is about an hour drive from Orlando? We will be leaving from Sheraton Vistana Resort. If there is anything else I should know about the area, please chime in. Any must sees or must dos or must eats - let me know. We have about 6 weeks to go till our trip and I am finally trying to plan our 2nd week. I appreciate any info.....:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

NOt sure since we have only just gone this last trip. But we were told to go to Jetty park beach. We stayed at that end of the beach close to the curise ports. The beach was beautiful, they had full bathrooms, I belive showers, then lots of the showers to wash outside too, I saw people with food so they must have a place there. It was just a nice place, when we went not too crowded. We mainly wanted away from the Main part since it was starting college break time. No need for drunken beach goers!!!

Thanks so much for the info - Is Jetty Park Beach actually part of Coco Beach or something else?

Jetty Park is actually at the port and not in Cocoa Beach. With your teens going to the pier in Cocoa Beach might be fun. Usually more surfers there. I am not sure about bathrooms/showers there, though. There is also the beach at the end of 520 where you could rent boogie boards, chairs, etc. Sometimes we park in the parking garage at the surf shop next to Ron Jons and walk the block to the beach for a while. Spend time at the surf shops and there are restaurants to eat at there, too.

When I have family come down who want to go to Cocoa Beach we tend to go to Lorie Wilson Park. There are showers, picnic tables, and a nature walk. Beach is usually wide and the bottom seems smooth without areas that drop and make the water deep quickly.

Do a search of cocoa Beach beaches and it will bring up the city and county parks.

Jetty Park is a great place to go for a day trip to Cocoa Beach. It is the same beach (it is just the inlet to Port Canaveral) you can walk 15 minutes down the beach and be at the Cocoa Beach Pier. Jetty Park has showers, play grounds, food, life guards, and it only cost $5 per car to get in. In Port Canaveral they have some great seafood restaurants. We ate at the Grill's and we had a blast watching the fishing boats come in with big fish. The pelicans were a blast to watch, we also saw sea turtles, and dolphins. The food was very good and they had a live band and great mixed drinks. We also decided to go on a shark fishing trip that evening and it was the highlight of our trip. We caught sharks, held them and took pictures then let them go. The boat we went on was Sea Leveler but you have several to choose from. We also checked on a free wild life drive in Titusville the next day. The place was called Black Point and we saw huge alligators, birds and wild pigs. We also went to a place called Haulover Canal and saw several manatees. That area is very enjoyable with alot of nature to explore. Have fun!

Thanks so much! It looks like Jetty Park is the place for us. You can't beat the $5 for parking either.
