For an upcoming trip, we will be using the dining plan and are looking forward to having a glass of wine or cocktail with meals. With the previous plan, it seemed to be a hassle to order alcoholic beverages with the wait staff constantly stating that it is not included in the dining plan.

For resort restaurants (with a nearby lounge), can you order a basic drink like a margarita, instead of the specialty cocktails from the menu? The Ale and Compass alcoholic beverages do not appeal to me, but my partner wants to have lunch on arrival day. I do not want to waste the drink credit.

Thanks for any information.

I'd say it never hurts to ask, but I doubt they will do it. The restaurant gets reimbursed for what you order. Getting the drink from the lounge would probably mean they lose money since the lounge won't reimburse them. If the lounge is attached to Ale & Compass, then you have a chance.
