Hi everyone,

I'm heading to Florida next week and during our stay my husband and I are planning to ride the new coaster Rip Ride Rockit. However I am a bit of a chicken when it comes to big rides and generally take a lot of convincing before I take the plunge :scared1: So my question is, is the vertical lift hill very intense and scary on RRR? I did ride the Hulk last year for the first time (after a LOT of encouragement from my husband) and absolutely loved it even though it scared the hell out of me beforehand so with that in mind, if I found the Hulk enjoyable will I be able to do RRR or does anybody think it's way more intense than the hulk?

Your thoughts please!
Thanks in advance,
Ber :)

RRR is way less intense than Hulk or DD. The vertical lift is nothing.

Keep in mind, these rides are the safest in the world and are actually safer than you getting in your car and driving home from the parks. So fear is a relative thing, being that there is almost 0 chance you would actually get hurt on any major theme park ride.

For me intensity levels with coasters varies as the coaster do. I love coasters in general, but don't really like coasters that have a lot of twists and turns in a tight area. These types of G-forces makes me woozy and I just don't enjoy them. Also, wooden coasters (which thankfully the major parks don't have) I hate. They are extremely shaky, rough and bumpy and it feels like you just got beat up after you have gotten off them, don't do woodys at all.

For me the ideal type of coaster is steel, (of course) and straight and high first lift and fast. I love these kind. They are typically very smooth on you, even if they are intensely fast and may have a very tall lift. Hulk is kind of border line for me, its got a great first move with the shoot out of the lift, I love that. Overall its a good coaster for me, but its a little G-forcy with the tight turns. DD I do rarely because they have very tight turns.

Point is, even if a coaster looks tall, for me that's a good thing as long as its relatively straight and smooth. The tight twists and turns are what may make you woozy, if its straight and fast, you shouldn't feel anything but excitement. Just my opinion but hope that helps.

Thanks damo and SNylund!

I feel a little less scared now and hopefully will be able to actually get on RRR when I see it in person. :cool1:
I'm just afraid the lift hill will look like it's hitting off the clouds and as I'm not a huge fan of heights, I just hope it doesn't turn me off! :scared1:

Thanks for your opinions!

Its funny because I am no fan of heights either, get very woozy in some situations, and even going up really tall lift hills make me a little aprehensive. But once you kind of just suck it up and do it, its a lot of fun. I used to look at tall lift hills and go oh my gosh, I can't believe that, but now I'm like the taller the better.:lmao:

On RRR, the time you are actually on the vertical lift is very short. Also, your music just starts to play as you are going up the lift so you are momentarily distracted. I'd say you only notice the lift for about 3 seconds and since you are looking straight up, you have no sensation of height.

It's all perspective/illusion. The lift hill is tall; it's taller than Hulk, but SMOOTH. Transitioning from sitting normally to vertically is a bit of a  but it's nowhere near the :scared1: of the Hulk's 0-40 into a zero-G roll into a 100+ ft dive.

Hulk is a 5 on *my* intensity scale. Rockit is a 4. Mummy is a 3. You'll go "whoa" when you first transition, then before you know it you'll be at the top. Then the ride goes. The coaster is smooth & fun. Hulk is a bit of a bang-you-up type now, albeit fun. If you did the Hulk, you'll be fine on Rockit. Just pick a song you like and it'll be even more fun.

What is the height requirement for this new ride?

Yea most definetly what Maurauder said. You will freak a bit when you're first pointed straight up, but this lift is NOT like Hulk's launch. It will drag you up the lift via a chain, but the lift hill is pretty fast, but it's not a launch. I'd say you have about 10-15 seconds of being on your back, and that's it. Maybe even less than that.

Hi,

Do you have information regarding Weight restrictions? I can fit into the "fat" seats of DD, do you think I'll have trouble with Rip, Ride, Rockit?

The lapbars & seat type are different from Hulk/Dragons. You'll have to try the test seat out front.

Thanks for all the info! We love the Hulk, and now I know we're going to love the RRR!!!

Thanks to everybody for your very helpful responses! I have to say I am feeling a lot more positive about being able to ride RRR after reading all of your opinions. I did the Hulk and survived so I have to be able to do RRR! I just need to look past the vertical lift hill and tell myself, it's not as bad as it looks!!! :scared1:

This. I was more apprehensive about ziplining over a mere 45ft platform than I am getting on a coaster for the first time. One I made that first jump, the rest were fun & easy. The most important thing to do is to SCREAM.

Thanks for your tip "the Dark Marauder" unfortunately I tend not to scream on big rides but instead hold my breath, (a habit my Mother told me I developed as a baby when I'd had enough food!) :rolleyes1 I feel holding your breath makes the ride less scary because if you scream, to me, it's like admitting the ride is too scary! :scared1: I don't want to be too scared when there's nothing I can do about it at that point!

For me (and many) the scream is not admission of fear (it is for some); it is more the admission of fun/excitement. I also find that the scream (WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! in my case) makes rides more enjoyable. I used to ride Hulk and not scream and it was just "meh" Now that I wooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooooo down the drops, it's much for fun.
