Coach Purses at Target!

I was actually half-joking, half-serious. I personally don't get the appeal of them, either..... I'm far too cheap to ever drop that much cash on a purse.

But... there are other things I'm willing to splurge on in life that maybe others wouldn't. So.... to each her own, I say!!
Me too!! :thumbsup2 I honestly don't know WHAT the big deal is about COACH and PRADA and D&B! :confused3 :sad2:

Sam's Club used to sell Gucci, Prada, Coach, Kate Spade. All authenic bags their buyers procured for them... recently, they were sued by Prada, I think, as they weren't an authorized retailer. These purse companies don't play around with with brand representation!

As for the corner sales of counterfeit bags - fraud!

Why would someone want to buy a DB or Coach at Target - maybe the Target store credit card is accepted there, not at the Coach, DB, Dillards, etc. stores you would usually find these bags for sale at.

It kinda reminds me of how stores like Target get professional hair care products illegaly. They are not authorized (or licensed) to carry the products. Kinda like Sams club isnt to carry the Coach or Prada bags. Somewhere, someone has gotten hold of these bags and sold them to the wholesale retailer company. Lost cargo, whatever. I love going to Wal Mart and seeing a gal with a Prada bag. I think "I know what that purse cost." Can we say Purse Party?(ie. knock-off)
Anyway. Its a nice thought. I decided a couple of years ago that Id rather pay more for one bag that I love than the same amount on lots of bags I kinda like.

It's kind of early to decide that Target has gotten ahold of some bags illegally. If they've been test marketing a lower cost line of these bags, I imagine that Coach and D & B are in on it. Has anyone checked with them?

I still haven't checked our stores but I still want to. The whole thing is kind of funny for some reason. ;)

Planogirl, I agree with you. It is possible that they are just trying to get there product out to a larger market.

Has anyone seen these yet? My hubby works for target and told me that one of the local stores has them in stock so i took a ride over there tonight. none of them really floated my boat, well.... except for the $339.00 one! They are also selling Dooney and Bourke but they didn't have any for me to see in stock.

I'm kinda bummed over this. I collect Coach bags and consider them sorta special..Seeing them at Target would upset me.

I already spend a TON of money when I go to Target. Now with them selling Coach and D & B. :sad2: I better not tell my DH.

lowie, I'm in PBC too. Can you tell me which Target had them? :)
it's the one on lake worth between jog and military. they were literally hanging on peg hooks right on the front aisle facing the registers.

:rotfl2: conspiracy theory... target is smuggling shampoo and purses out of china and for some insane reason they are proudly displaying them for all to see!
my family used to own a tiny jewelry store in the middle of nowhere and we have a necklace that if you held it 20 feet away and looked at it through a warped piece of glass looked a little bit like a bulgari (designer) necklace.
well, wouldn't you know that we got a legal notice to cease and desist selling it!
i'm 100% sure that if target were selling items illegally they'd be called on it immediately!

ditto

I think it cheapens the designers name. People who are buying them because they are 'high end' (I would say a majority) are going to be less interested in them because they won't really be high end anymore. They will move onto something else which will eventually make them not even all that desirable to those who buy them in Target.

I think it is a mistake for Coach and D&B to do this. (fwiw, I don't collect d&b or coach purses and I like target, I just think this is a bad business decision)

Thanks! Might just have to go there this weekend. :)

D&Bs are sold at my BX, which is like a Target or Walmart for military. And another designer - I don't recall who.

For those who think it will cheapen the brand - did that happen to Issac Miza-what-i? And Liz Lange? Or not so much because they're not as famous as Coach?

You know Coach and DB bags are nice and they are expensive to the middle class but really they are low end designer bags. I'm not knocking them because I carry a Coach bag myself but the outrage over the specialness of Coach is kind of funny. Especially since you can go to the Coach outlet store and buy a big one for $50 sometimes.

Agreed. If they were selling Marc Jacobs bags or Balengencia bags that would be really surprising. But a line of "Coach for Target" sounds like a good idea!

Meoww! :goodvibes

Are they really coach bags or are they "Coach for Target" bags like "Isaac Misrahi for Target" or "Liz Lange for Target" etc..

I agree.

Again--For quite a few years now, they have been made in China. I have heard quite a few disparaging remarks about the quality nowadays. Check out some purse/handbag forums.

I don't think selling the bags at Target cheapens the Coach name. I think the fact that they use underpaid/overworked workers and charge a sickening amount of money to the consumer cheapens the name.

We have a Couch outlet and have never seen a 50 dollar one :confused3 Believe me, if I saw it, I'd buy it. I don't think they are low end at all.

Also someone made a comment about Coach not being that great because they have an outlet. There are Prada, Burberry, Gucci outlets...I don't consider any of those low end.

Oh forgot the whole reason I came back to the thread, lol..
I went to Target today and they didn't have Coach...just Coach bag look alikes by another company. I'm in Orlando.

I was a couple of Coach and D&B bags at Sam's today. They were in the locked displays near the jewelry counters.

I haven't been to Target in a couple of weeks so I don't know if they are here yet or not.

I hate carrying a purse. It kills my shoulders after awhile. I usually make small trip out.
