Coach Purses at Target!

There's nothing on the Target press release site that mentions anything about D&B or Coach, which I find odd. I would expect a major press release if they signed on companies like that.

If true, I wonder if Coach will still honor their lifetime guarantee policy on bags purchased at Target.

Also, as far as Target not selling things they're not supposed to, I buy salon products at Target all the time that say right on the bottle "This product meant for sale in authorized salons only". :rotfl:

I hope these are imperfects or discontinued styles. Selling Coach and D&B in Target, IMO, makes them "ordinary" instead of "coveted."

BTW, it feels strange for me to have an opinion about this since I'm not even a fan of these brands' products. (I don't have any favorite accessory line.)

A few days ago the Detroit Free Press had an article about the change in merchandise for some Target stores. The article did not mention either Coach or D&B but named two different designer jeans that I had never heard of. One that sold around $260 and one that sold around $175. The article indicated that this was being done in certain test markets and that the goal was for the shopper to be surprised each time they went to their local Target.

I would be surprised if these purses are subject to Target's usual clearance markdown schedule.

A question for those of you excited by this. Given that the purses may sell at exactly the same price, what makes it attractive to you to buy it at Target rather than the Caoch store or your local department store?

I dunno, if I drive to the fancy shmancy mall and drop $360 on a purse in a fancy schmancy store, with a fancy schmancy salesperson in a fancy schmancy outfit, it is a big splurge. Sure to be guilt inducing.

If I drop $360 on a purse in Target, well that expense is just gonna get mixed up with the paper products budget, and I don't think I'll ever miss the money.

Kinda dangerous, isn't it?

Coach and D&B are overrated anyway. :stir:

I don't know whether you were serious, but I do agree with this statement. Besides the "name brand" recognition (which I avoid at all costs--the manufacturers should pay ME to walk around advertising for them! :teeth: ), what exactly is the appeal of these purses? I know Coach is leather and of reasonably good quality, but other than that, why would you spend $329 for a purse? :confused3
Just wonderin'... :sunny:

I remember years ago, I went to Gucci and bought the signature handbag...then my friend when to Fields to buy the same bag (she had a Fields charge card then) She wanted my exact bag, I remember that sales lady told us that the bags that Gucci stores sell and department stores sell are completely different styles and that Gucci does not guarantee bags sold at Fields, you are under a Fields warranty.

Coach at Target is probably along the same lines as Issac's line, a women who wears his high fashion line would not be wearing his Target line. I'm hoping that this is the case, that its a completely different inventory than what you can get at the Coach store

I was actually half-joking, half-serious. I personally don't get the appeal of them, either..... I'm far too cheap to ever drop that much cash on a purse.

But... there are other things I'm willing to splurge on in life that maybe others wouldn't. So.... to each her own, I say!!

Now if they put them on the famous Target 90% off clearance sales....THEN, we're talking my language!!! :) (Just can't beat Target clearance!)

Lori P. :)

Thats what I was thinking!! Coach persons for everyone on my x-mas list for 90% off! But they would never make it there, they qwould be gone at 50% if not already at 35% !

He has told me that they are now carrying a Tommy Hilfiger line of clothing--said it's less expensive, same quality, but the Tommy logo/signature label is only on the inside so nobody would actually know you are wearing Tommy...

:thumbsup2 That's great! I've always loved Tommy clothes but I really hate it when they put the label on the outside or the shirts say the brand name all over them, it makes me feel like a walking billboard when they do that.

ITA..... My $12 leather walmart purse carries all my junk just fine. I just do not see the appeal of spending that much money on a purse.
Then again I am a bit jaded because I know 2 women who both have several designer purses, but talk about how since they don't get child support, their kids are on medicaid, free school lunch etc. One of the mos brags about her several trips to Vegas a yr and her $300 sun glasses and 100 hair cuts too.

I know a lot of people who would ask why you would spend $$ on a Disney vacation. To each their own.

There's just something that sounds wrong about grabbing milk, tampons and a Coach purse in the same trip. ;)

Hey, we have only Super Targets here which means they contain a Starbucks. So, don't forget to add a Pumpkin Spice Latte to that list.. :thumbsup2

I'm at Target several times a week. For me it would just be convenience. I hardly ever go to the mall. I don't care where I buy it.

:thumbsup2 Though I buy Coach purses, WDW annual passes, and stay at WDW resorts. :rotfl2: A lot of people think I am nuts (more for the Disney than the Coach purses though). :teeth:

To answer the first question -- because I can! :rotfl: Actually, none of mine have been in the $300 category.

All my Coach purses are the plain leather or suede variety. You probably wouldn't know they were Coach so I'm not doing any advertising. I truly like them. I have a friend that buys shoes like they are going out of style. Her money, her choice. Same with me. I think it's one of those things that you either get or don't.

I'm not a Coach fan, but my DD is. Headed over to our SuperTarget this A.m.

The answer to this is yes. I've sent a purse for repair that was purchased from a TJ Maxx. They repaired free of charge. Just to clarify, I did not buy it damaged, it was being sold there because it was a discountinued style.

Is it possible that these Coach and D&B bags are a lesser-grade product that they developed especially for Target? Sort of the way that Gap (for example) makes merchandise specifically to sell in their outlet stores?
I am almost sure that is what this is. Target has done that before with their Go International lines. I have a Luella Bartley bag, but it says "Luella for Target", and the same with the Paul and Joe line, it was made for Target. Not the same quality and styles and the expensive stuff, but a nice alternative for those of us who can't afford designer stuff (yet).

WOW! Are you kidding me? I'm not sure if this is good news or not... I LOVE Coach bags! A trip to Target this weekend (the one with the Starbucks... oh yeah!) is in order for this girl! :cheer2:

OK folks, who has actually seen a Coach purse for sale at Target????? Just one person?? Anyone else, and if so, what city/state are you in?? I find it hard to believe my little town in Tennessee will be sporting Coach bags, but I can always dream.............

I have not work at my target since Friday. I am working tonight, I will have to see if we have them.
