Coach bags....

Their quality is more hit or miss than it used to be, but they do still have some outstanding products. I bought two leather Sabrinas last fall and they have worn quite nicely, and I don't baby my bags. The few times I have had a problem, they have been quite good about correcting it for me.

Most of the fabric ones and this absurd Poppy line aren't made very well at all, based on the ones I have looked at.

I cannot stand the new Poppy collection, personally. I agree the quality is terrible-- you can get the same bags (albeit, without a label) for much cheaper. Too tacky for me.
However, Christmas of 2008, I got the Madison Sabrina in dark brown leather. Now, for the most part, I do believe it was well made and definitely genuine leather. HOWEVER, the top corners of the bag (where the ends of the zipper are) have completely gone bare. They have gone from dark, shiny, beautiful leather to worn :-(
They told me that that adds to its character...However, the woman at the store did offer to exchange it for me seven months later. I didn't want to, since it was a gift from DBF. I think their customer service is top notch, just perhaps not the quality...

Their customer service is definitely great. If you have a valid complaint, they will usually offer you a brand new item in its place or offer you 40% off a new purchase (and you can keep the one you have).

I may hit the outlet next weekend just to see if they have any decent Coach there. Coincidentally, I got a 20% off coupon in the mail today. :lmao:

I used to really want one but now with the declining quality and seeing every other lady with a mullet and holes in her sweatpants in walmart carrying one I just don't care anymore.

I think quality is down everywhere and in the few places that haven't cut quality, they have cut customer service so it's almost the same. It's true we have become a society where we don't want to pay but we except it to stay the same.

The nice thing that I remember about Coach is that if your bag breaks or something -- they will fix it or give you a new one -- you don't get that on Canel Street! Also while made in china < made in the USA, Coach bags are usually made of higher quality materials as well (better leathers, etc). In the long run I think I've saved money.

The Poppy bags are great! And we have an outlet near me that almost always does 20% off total purchase (ON TOP OF outlet prices!)... which I love!

. The funny thing is, the Coach bags I have you wouldn't even know they were Coach bags unless you looked inside the bag at the label...

That's how mine are. I have 2 black leather ones. No hang-tags on either one. The only people who know they're Coach are people who "know" Coach.

I seriously dislike the ones with the "C" all over them..... Do you know that Macy's even has the "c" sneakers and "c" boots on clearance for 60% off?? I think Macy's is phasing Coach out.

Is this happening at any other Macys?

Yep, Markdowns at my Macys as well. They are marking things down to make room for the New Lines. I don't think Macys will stop carrying the brand.

I have a Coach Maggie bag in Jade green that I bought for Christmas after saving up all year. It's all patent leather (I don't do the 'C' logo everywhere) and so far it has worn well and still looks 'fresh'. Here's a photo of the bag in purple...

I saw this tote which I plan to get with a small portion of this year's income tax refund (the other part goes towards an iPad) :

I'm not a fan of the Poppy collection but that's just my personal taste. Even when I was a teen I went for more conservative handbags. I was quite dissapointed to find out Coach bags are now made in China but it is what it is.

As other posters have said, the customer service at Coach is 'top notch'. I try not to look in there much but in the King of Prussia mall they are literally two stores down from Starbucks and 3 stores down from the Apple store. :lmao:

The thing I found funny, though, is that Macy*s never had "markdowns" or "sales" on Coach. I remember one particular bag I wanted a while back -- it was $498. I asked the saleswoman if any of the bags ever go on sale. She told me they never do sales or markdowns on Coach but she could offer me a 20% off if I get approved for a Macy*s credit card. LOL!

I'm still going to hit the outlets. I had planned on going out there to get my DD some Skechers so I think I'll check out the Coach store there and the Dooney one, too since they're close to one another.

Speaking of the devil I just got my 20% of postcard for the Coach Factory Outlet in the mail today. This means I'm going shopping. Usually when they have these they offer a 50% off in addition. I'm going to go get the brown Zoe and most likely another Carly bag if they have it *crossing my fingers*. Hoping they have some Peytons to choose from too. I like the Cs and will only buy the bags that have the Cs on them. *shrugs*
