Am I off base or is CNN.com misrepresenting the facts in their headline? CNN does say inside the article that the two riders had unknown medical conditions. I thought I read somewhere that the woman who died knew of her history of high blood pressure, but I'm not positive. Either way, the headline just seems way out of line to me. I wonder what Disney's legal department would think...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

How else can a television news network get the bulk of America to tune in?

There was a post last night from someone that rode it .They said everything was the same but no spinning. Then car rocked back and forth and side to side just with no G's.

I will add that you have a choice Orange side has the G's/spinning .Green side has no Spinning from what the report stated.

Ok, but wasn't it the G's that actually MADE the ride? I don't get it. So now, you are in a capsule "pretending" to go to the moon, without the realistic sensation of it?

Don't get me wrong, I hate the ride. I rode it once and it was enough for me. But, my DS LOVES the ride, and I hope he is not disappointed with the change.

Typical media. They try to get more viewers/readers by turning a positive into a negative. :stir:

I think what Disney did was great! Provide more opportunities for enjoyment for more guests :woohoo:

As someone who used to write headlines -- it made you read the story, didn't it? ;)

Yes a DAN is right I edited my post .

This is no different then some other movie based motion rides with non-motion options .It still gets people onto the ride and thats the entire point to get them on the ride to EXIT THROUGH THE STORE.

I think it's a good move that was made easily from what was reported.Gives others a chance to do the one and then decide to go to the other.

You are right, KaterKat, it was the specific headline that made me look at the video. Since I had been following the developments earlier and knew Disney was going to offer a "lite" version of the ride, I would not likely have watched the video story if it had had a less bold headline. I watched the video just to see how they were going to support their headline stating that the ride killed those two riders.

Amen. That, btw, is the bottom line.

Hey, don't some people do that here on the DIS on their Title? :rotfl2:

a) It's going to MARS.
b) NOTHING has changed - They just ADDED an opportunity to ride it without being exposed to the centrifugal forces.

I think a lot of people are gun shy about this ride. I certainly am as I can't handle the spinning rides at all. I'll probably be able to ride it now. I say kudos to Disney for offering all us 'centrifugally challenged' :teeth: folk a chance to ride!

I'll probably go green. I have ridden the ride, twice I think, though not the past several visits, would like to again. At some point in your life, you say, 'I don't need that anymore, the abuse', LOL. Same with ToT and RnR, have not ridden those past several visits, though many times in the past. Most times when I got off those I was asking myself, 'why did I do that?' LOL. :confused3

I think the headline is definitely misleading...definitely not a shocker that they would do that, but sleazy just the same.

I noticed sometime today CNN changed the title of the video clip headline to "Epcot Tames Ride After Two Die." That is slightly toned down from their original title "Epcot Tames Ride That Killed Two."

I know SeaWorld has had this option for awhile with their northpole attraction.
One room has ride simulator, the other like a movie theater.
